What are the chances that will be able to run mac os without any hardware incompatibilities?
>>
Very slim.
>>
Could be possible to do if you have a programmer who can create the drivers needed to run the Mac OS on the surface hardware, but will likely have to keep having new drivers made when Apple do software updates (not upgrade) for their OS.

That said this would not be worth it and would be expensive.

Would be cheaper to do your research and make a standard Hackintosh (usually uses Gigabyte motherboards) that is specialised for a hardware intensive task which only works with or works better with Mac OS.

It might be if apple continues to ignore the pro market and never offers a competing product. A 27" touch screen cintiq is $2800 by itself and has a much shittier display.

If it is worth it then I guess you would need a programmer then.

Not sure if the touchscreen can be supported by Mac OS (the touch part that is) as Apple's iOS is the only one to natively support it for their mobile devices with the iPad Pro being the closest thing to a touchscreen desktop product that Apple have.

That said it would probably be possible for touch drivers to be done but this would be expensive and if a programmer wants supporting a surface machine as a Hackintosh for a job.

zero

It's powerful enough to run macOS in a VM without any issues at all. It won't support the hardware acceleration for the GUI of course but that's irrelevant for the most part because the performance will be more than acceptable overall.

Hell, I run macOS Sierra in a VM on a Dell Latitude with a dual core i7 and 8GB, works just fucking fine for me to get the job done so I damned well know the Surface Studio will run fucking circles around this old beast machine.

i have a fully functional hackintosh. Fairly high actually. Its will use intel so its going work without major hackery. It also runs a 980m if i read it right and there is drivers for that on OSX. The stuff you have to worry about is WIFI chips, bluetooth module and maybe the touch screen interface. Those things always need kexts added on later or flat out using outboard USB bluetooth and wifi modules. This is the problem the surfaces ran into. The wifi chip could never be supported with modded kexts so people need to add their own dongle later on.

VMWare works great. There's only arond 10-15% CPU overhead.
>>
What do you want to put macOS on it? You would lose like the 90% of the original functions the Surface has. Even some touch-based OS like iOS would be better than macOS at this point.
>>

The next Mac will be something similar, with a even better screen and probably a decent GPU.

Why would the Mac ever support touch at this point?

Apple's slowly digging a fragmented grave and they're sticking to it
>>
>>57254737
next iMac will probably have the same screen, and probably some kind of Polaris card, maybe even a desktop grade 480 or 470.

Though, i can see them doing something to the surface (and classic iMac G4) and put the computing part in the base again. It might give them more thermal overhead to play with.

Assuming they redesign it.
>>
Is the digitizer Wacom?
>>
>>57255028
Probably N-Trig, like the Surfaces.
>>
>>57251157
Apple will release iMac Studio today and btfo Microsoft
>>
>>57251278
>much shittier display

But the screen also has much better pressure sensitive features, is much more accurate and has much better pens. Digital artists will continue to buy Cintiq's and Microsoft will discontinue this line a year from now.
>>
>>57251157
just why
>>
>>57255028
No, it's the same trash they use in the Surface.
>>
>>57251157
Absolutely none as shitOS wasn't designed for touch in mind, much less having an integrated digitizer.
>>
>>57255389
One artist in particular (from Penny Arcade) has already been using it for a week and said it's a generational leap above his Cintiq HD.

I don't think you know what you're talking about.

He draws stick figure garbage. He could use MS paint and a trackball and it wouldn't make any difference to his work.

It won't be able to run MacOS.
There is no SJMSIC chip onboard.

It's what makes a Mac truly superior.
