No, A-series paper is the square root of to (basically 1:2.14 i think). But I use a surface pro and it just feels nice having a3 landscape sheets fill your screen with just the right amount of space around them in illustrator or indesign for example.

Good point on the portrait mode though, judging by the hinge i doubt they'll include it. Hopefully a large enough and high enough dpi display will make it comfortable enough to show it portrait on a landscape screen.

The thing about using x86 in a phone is that even though you get a giant library of compatible software, none of it is optimized for low power devices with limited resources. Plus good luck finding a x86 SOC with a decent baseband/radio and GPU. I guess you could just cram multiple chips on the board, but you'd probably still be looking at a shitty ATOM.

Internet Explorer at its core was always good, the problem is all the shit they had to support for legacy software and being too tied to the kernel that if the browser had a problem the complete system could crash. Edge is just IE without the legacy code, added some new HTML5 related things, while being less dependant to the kernel.
To be fair that's the problem with Windows as well, the legacy code, that's why they want to drop the Win32 and go full WinRT in the next years.
