>>
>>57243932
I think the 8350 still has it's uses for a cheap $500 build on an 'enthusiast platform' but when it comes to new tech like usb 3.1, M.2 drives, it's Intel all the way, those stupid 990FX boards the likes of asus and gigabyte are making with M.2 and usb 3.1 are absolutely retarded because anyone dropping the cash on an M.2 drive can afford intel anyway.

Whats the point? just spend a little more on an intel CPU which is more powerful, but uses less energy.
It'll be paying itself after a few bills.

>Inb4 shill
I used to love AMD (specially those juicy Phenom II), but they really need to get their shit together, neither their CPU or GPU are decent nowadays.
>>
>>57244067
I feel you, AMD FX has never really been impressive these past several years, its just a 32nm Phenom shrink with 8 cores and 4GHz.

>>

>>
>>57244156
He was happy to part with it, and I can now encode video at 8-12fps, as opposed to 1-2 on the old processor. Got a nice gigabyte mobo with it too.

Some Pajeet near me bought a Corsair 750D and found it too big for his desk, so I bought it for something like 50% basically brand new, and now I got a decent rig going.
>>
>>57244159
Incorrect. They're high end, but not enthusiast tier any longer.
The Fury series and even the 390x are still very good cards, but they've been outpaced in the enthusiast grade by Nvidia's latest offerings.
Trouble is, AMD knew that they didn't want to compete with everything at once and took their chances with the lower end of the market.
Yes, most sales are made there, but the trouble is by completely ignoring the higher end of the market, they've lost everyone who wanted to upgrade to something much more powerful. Meanwhile, they've also lost on the ability to price war with Nvidia, because its easier to price an item down a tier than it is to convince people to pay more for it (unless it has no competitor, which is why Nvidia is getting away with murder right now).

I sincerely hope AMD never make this mistake again.
They wanted to grab the lower end of the market, and from what I'm told they HAVE made a small impact by doing that, but they've also made a huge impact on their reputation, by letting Nvidia not just go "hah, our stuff is 2 - 5fps better!" like in the past, but outright saying "if you want the real experience, you HAVE to come to us!"
>>
>>57244196
>tfw still waiting for 490
>>
>>57244208
I know that feel. I've got a Fury X and I love it, but I also would love to see the improvements that might be made.
I doubt Vega will be enough for me, I'd have to get a custom block + the new card, so its doubtful it'll be worth the jump, but if Vega improves decently, perhaps Navi will be the final upgrade to my computer.

Genuinely difficult to think of a worse GPU by a mainstream company than the Nvidia GeForce FX 5800.

It was so ridiculously loud that Nvidia THEMSELVES made an (internal) video making fun of it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WOVjZqC1AE4

On top of that, it was more expensive than the ATi Radeon 9700 Pro, had significantly lower performance, and came out OVER 6 MONTHS LATER.

Second place for shitty tech by a mainstream company would have to go to very first iteration of the Pentium 4 Prescott on the 478 socket. It got so hot it would throttle under normal load conditions, and it performed worse than the previous generous Pentium 4 in everything except in some SSE3 applications.

Playing something like Fallout 4 with most settings on max, I hit 70fps average.
Yes, 70 is absolutely fine, but it can and will dip to 30 at times/in certain areas.
My monitor doesn't support lower than 40 for Freesync and even if it did, you can still tell the difference in 40, 50 and 60fps. It's just much nicer with Freesync, but its still noticeable.
So yes, there is still plenty of room for improvement if you REALLY want to push things.
Going for 4k is stupid right now because there's no tech that can reliably push it. But 2560x1440?
