Not even in Seattle do they use Windows phones.
I feel like Amazon is more admired here than MS; and google's a bigger influence than facebook on Silicon Valley programmers (but then I only know people in the Bay Area specifically.)
I don't think backpacks are popular in Silicon Valley, but I could be wrong.
A lot of the rest seems vaguely right, but stereotypes are stereotypes.

Silicon Valley is a shithole. I lived in the Oakland area for university and every time I went to an interview in SV I just felt that it was extremely depressing. Just endless suburbs everywhere. I can't believe willingly live there and pay $2500 a month in rent for a one bedroom apartment and pay 10% of their income to the government.
The PNW is much more refreshing. I live on the eastside and rarely go to Seattle but there is a real sense of character here. The people aren't obnoxious hipsters nor are there any hobos, and there's actually a sense of weather and seasons instead of the damn blinding sun every single day in the Bay Area.
