I hate my day job, because it means long and often unsociable hours doing boring shit.
Hacking is fun, on the other hand, but it can cause high levels of stress. Many of my friends have gotten arrested, some of them have killed themselves, and others have actually ended up with serious psychological issues.

What's your most major hack? Mine was finding an exploit in a popular PHP script which would let me get into thousands of servers, I only wanted to get one file from the server I used it on though so I never bothered taking full advantage of it

Go to conferences, start networking. You don't need CCNA, though it wouldn't hurt, I'm sure.
You should learn python, because all the pentesters use it for their tools. Familiarize yourself with Burp, Nessus, Metasploit, etc.

What I realized was that If use a bigger tv to stretch my web browser the server sends more information.
