Hey guys, I just got a laptop and I was wondering (for science) if there was any way to have the laptop's display turn off completely whenever it's charging?
Turn it off

When I say turning the display completely off, I mean disabling the display in settings. Is there some script to make this work? How do I do this?
xbacklight -set 0

Close it

Solder the CPU then install Gentoo.

why would you want this
while true;do grep 1 /sys/class/power_supply/AC/online && xset dpms force off;sleep 1;done

wouldn't a udev rule make more sense than polling?

By saying "more sense", are you trying to imply that a tripfag's post may remotely make any sense?

Screen will wake up if you hit a button or move the mouse. State based polling is the best option imo.

Should probably poll the battery state and not AC though to really see whether or not its charging.
