I have a bind9 server on my RPi at home. The bind9 is running well with no problems. Created my zones and my forward and reverse databases, all is fine. Now I want to include my blacklisted zones which are at the moment over 32k domains. If I include one of those blacklisted domain rule in the named.conf file and restarting bind9 process, the dns is going to block the blacklisted domain and running without any problems. But I don't want to include every single blacklisted domain rule in named.conf rather only a link to the file with all blacklisted domains. I thought I can fix it with "include /path/path" but after restarting bind9 process the dns server don't run like he should do. Any help here?

I could probably get 2 full charge/discharge cycles into my laptop everyday with the amount of use it gets. For extending the life of the battery would it be better to charge it, take it off charge and plug it in again at 2-% or so? Or just leave it plugged in at all possible times, even overnight?

Depend on what you use your pc for and what kind of game you play, 750ti is solid if you can get one for below 100 bucks (preferably 80-ish) or try to save up and get 1050 (coming out today) for $110. Gt cards aren't that great for modern games so only get them if you only light gaming.

So twice now I have swapped out the cmos battery in my motherboard because the clock kept changing to random incorrect times. Doing this has kept the correct time for a few weeks, but again now the time has started to randomly become incorrect.

How can I fix this obnoxious problem? The time is correct in bios but for some reason I'm forced to click "set time automatically" a few times every few hours.
>>
>>57227426
Don't even buy a GPU at that range

Just buy a much better CPU, then add a gpu later, integrated graphics on a high end CPU will be more than enough for low end gaming, most games that are gonna run on a shit tier PC will be almost entirely based on your CPU, and if you're not gaming then you won't need one just the same anyway.

Currently using an AMD Radeon R7 370.

Whenever I try to boot into a Live linux distro, I get a blank screen. So far, I've determined that the issue is isolated to the aforementioned GPU, because I've had no problems when using a different card (Nvidia for example).

Now, ofc I would just use a different card for the install process, and then go back to the AMD Radeon R7 370, because it does work post-installation, but unfortunately it's the only GPU available to me right now.

So my question is, is there a workaround for this? Or will I just have to find another card?

Oh, and my MOBO has no on-board graphics, so that option is out of the question.

So i left my laptop upgrading to windows 10 (fuck me, right?) and now it gets stuck at ASUS startup screen. Can't get to a boot menu or anything. I have tried resetting BIOS by removing cmos battery. Any other ideas?
>>

>>
>>57228457
>boards
The iGPUs are in processors, motherboards only have connectors for displays.

Modern i3/i5/i7 processors have pretty decent integrated graphics these days. You can browse internet and watch movies just fine and even do some light gaming with them. The more expensive processors have better integrated graphics but you're paying a large premium for them.

>>57228507
>Memory (RAM): 4096 MB
That's pretty low for a 64-bit windows. It should work fine for light tasks but you might run into memory issues if you want to run something more taxing on it.

>Is win 10 hard to learn?
Nah, not at all. It has a few oddities such as having some system settings in control panel and some in settings menu but it's really user friendly most of the time. If you run into issues google will give you answers fairly easily.

>>57228520
Start it, remove the battery, wait for a few seconds before inserting it again and try to boot.

I was looking to buy a new USB wireless internet adapter for faster connection.

However, the one I'm looking at is USB 3.0 and my computer does not have that. I know it is backwards compatible, but I was wondering if using USB 2.0 would not let me achieve faster internet connection and therefor I should not bother buying it at all (as my current one works fine, I just want faster).
>>
>>57228599

I had a similar issue with my laptop (windows crashed on startup, showed boot screen because that was the last image on image buffer, switching the laptop off just put it into sleep mode) but removing the battery forced it to do a proper restart.

Usb 2.0 is up to 480 mb/s and usb 3.0 is up to 5 gb/s. It's hard to tell how much the real world speed is but 2.0 should be quick enough for everything except the fastest connections.

If we're talking about desktops then you could buy an PCIe wireless adapter card or USB 3.0 card.

Probably nothing, although in theory there could be a virus written to exploit some vulnerability that way.

If you have a good signal and don't get any interference then the difference is very minimal, a few millisecouds. But cable connections are far more reliable.

>>57228787
It'll infect the "windows" on wine but it cannot do anything beyond that because it wasnt programmed for linux.

Just delete all folders created by wine or reinstall the whole thing. Google for instructions.

I woudnt recommend buying one, but it's pretty much impossible to tell if and how much faster it'd be. If you know a store witha a good return policy then you could try it out and return if it's not faster.

Does it get stuck on a windows loading image? If so, let it get to that screen and then force the PC off and back on. Repeat a few times and it'll eventually load into a recovery mode.

Put win10 install disk into USB stick and boot from it. Try to use the recovery tools to reset your windows, if that doesnt work then just reinstall the whole thing.

Speccy is possibly just reporting what that model of CPU defaults to. Use CPU-Z to know what it's really clocked to.
>>
>>57229117
Click on the CPU tab in speccy and open up the cores table. It should report core speeds for each core, which are more accurate than the number on summary page. You'll have to task the cores while doing this though as they automatically underclock when idle.

Not exactly. I'd like it if he could use the BSDs too, and although it would be awesome if he could, he probably won't.

Other guy here.

LibreOffice is copyleft, OpenOffice is permissive. Everyone has an opinion on which of these licenses is more free than the other. Hang out in the Linux threads to learn about that.

But even if you don't care about the licensing, you should use LibreOffice. In one of those links that he gave you, the story is related of how pretty much the whole OpenOffice dev team objected to Oracle buying the project and trademarks, and they quit en masse and forked the project, resulting in LibreOffice. (Oracle later gave it to Apache after they realized they weren't going to be making any money off it without the devs)

What this little bit of open-source drama means is that LibreOffice is a healthy project that's under active development. New features are being added, bugs are being fixed, releases are made regularly. This is not true of OpenOffice, which is very nearly defunct. There was a scandal a while back when they couldn't get a patch for a security vulnerability out over six months after they were told of it.

I think I've understood the i2p faq correctly, and this appears to work (added the wording from the faq followed by the rules, in order, and changed my unique port number to PORT):
# Outbound UDP from the random port noted on the configuration page to arbitrary remote UDP ports, allowing replies
-A OUTPUT -p udp --sport PORT -j ACCEPT
# Outbound TCP from random high ports to arbitrary remote TCP ports
-A OUTPUT -p tcp --sport 9000:31000 -j ACCEPT
# Inbound UDP to the port noted on configuration page from arbitrary locations
-A INPUT -p udp --dport PORT -j ACCEPT
# Inbound TCP to the port noted on configuration page from arbitrary locations
-A INPUT -p tcp --dport PORT -j ACCEPT
# Outbound UDP on port 123, allowing replies
-A OUTPUT -p udp --sport 123 -j ACCEPT

But since I have an i2p user and all, would perhaps this be better?
-A INPUT -j ACCEPT -m owner --uid-owner i2p
-A OUTPUT -j ACCEPT -m owner --uid-owner i2p

Is the former more secure because it doesn't allow a user free pass through the firewall as it likes? Or is the latter more secure because only ports used by the user will be open at any moment?

Also, I'm assuming NEW,ESTABLISHED,RELATED state on all, but perhaps some should just be ESTABLISHED or something, like the outbound rule for tcp on the range of ports 9000-31000?

I don't know of anything that rips from spotify, but if you're on windows check out Deezloader.
If you're on linux here's a guide to getting it working:

I use education also, and apart from cortana it is identical to enterprise. I don't really care much for any of the features though, so it's not like it makes any difference to me which version I have.

Amaze is the one most people will recommend to you (it's also foss)
Personally, I like Root explorer much more. It is a paid app so you'll have to find an apk for it, but imo it has the best layout out of all the file browsers I've used.

>>57232453
depends on the person. I'm fine with those screens, but don't expect to be able to have multiple windows displaying at once. I would recommend going to a store and just playing around with a tiny laptop for a few minutes to see what the screen size will mean for your work.

The two most popular tools for this are Destroy Windows 10 Spying and ShutUp10.
Be aware that after running these tools you will lose access to the microsoft store, so make sure you are NEVER going to use it.
I had to reinstall windows when halo came out because I couldn't download it after running destroy win 10 spying.

I notice that I have started to do this too some days.
I manage my own time, so it is not a big deal yet, I am just tired.
Some days I sleep until 9 and then I don't go to work at all. I know I should and I will get punished for it later, but I am just drained.

Admin privileges give you access to every single file and let you install anything you want including screen monitoring or keyloggers. Can't go much lower than that. Maybe if they have a custom setup where not even an account with full permissions has access to certain production/valuable things, which would be weird and unlikely, especially on Windows.

>>57231635
Screen connectors vary from a number of ribbon cable types to proprietary shit and custom chips. Figure out what the screen uses and go from there, although it's probably cheaper to just buy one off eBay or something for a few cents.

First of all do a proper install instead of an upgrade, then update and set up everything. Then use every automated tool under the sun (scripts, DWS, Anti-Beacon, etc), then go through the list of services and disable everything you can, then disable every MS related IP and domain, THEN boot into an external OS and disable some things that can only be removed from an offline system by renaming a few EXEs and DLLs to .EXE.BAK. Or just stick to Windows 7.

overclocking

>Processor Base Frequency
3.50 GHz
>Max Turbo Frequency
3.90 GHz

If I understand intel turbo approach correctly
they increase clocks of fewer cores when cpu is withing thermal and power limits
but if load is heavy, and spread on the cores, the frequency drops and approaches base 3.5ghz

correct?

so when I am overclocking recent intel cpu, I am increasing the baseline frequency right?
so jumping to 4.5ghz is a pretty decent jump
and this completely deactivate turbo approach I assume?

How exactly does your internet "disconnect? Are you using PPPoE or dialup or similar? Is it connected with a cable to a router? Does the problem happen with a different OS (use a liveCD for a few hours if you're on Windows, use Windows if you're on Linux)? Do you get disconnected if you do something network intensive that's not gaming (torrents, streaming, etc)? It's probably some automated energy saving crap that kicks in based on your network usage.

Looking to upgrade my 380x to something with less power consumption and more performance. What would be a good choice? The 470 looks tempting but dont know how I feel about going from 4GB to 4GB. 1060 6GB seems like an alright choice along with the 480 8GB, what say you guys?

i dont even think the 470 is faster.
4GB or more doesnt matter when the rest of the card cant use more VRAM to increase performance on higher resolutions, this goes for both 480 and 1060.

as a long time nvidia user, go with the 480 8gb if your other option is the 1060. The 480 is much more future proof and will perform better using dx12 and vulkan.

It depends on the book, but generally yes.
I would suggest that you pick something that is ideal for the task you want to complete and use it while you solve a problem.

Break the problem into as many parts as you can think of and then try to tackle each problem.

Say you want to solve a maze using C++.
first problem could be to write an application in C++ that reads and displays an image on your computer.
This means you have to learn how to read a file, how to write to a file, how structure data and how to manipulate data structures.

Then you can read up on algorithms for solving these problems and implement them using your setup.

While you can pick anything you would want to do, I would suggest to pick something that you know how to do without programming and preferably something you can see yourself finishing within a month or two.

Every time you get stuck, read the book until you don't feel stuck anymore.
Maybe they have examples and implementing them would be a good idea, even if they don't directly help you with your task.

Learning best practices is really hard unless you have some experience to know what they are talking about.
>>
>>57234585
Well, for serious OC, they recommend you to turn it off. Because serious OC uses a stable higher voltage.

Luckily, the newer (sandy+) Core chips can at least speedstep even when OC'd. Back before you had to disable that too.

But, any basic tutorial will tell you how to do these.
Also, why would you OC?
You don't gain much, but the power consumption, heat output will skyrocket.

http://superuser.com/questions/223941/ctrl-1-and-ctrl-2-key-combinations-dont-work

Any of these, maybe? Logically there are four stages that can fail, try to figure out which one it is.
1) The keys themselves (check ctrl and the number keys individually in a textbox or something, or the keyboard test thing from Passmark)
2) The key combination (use a different program and see if it picks up Ctrl+1 through 9)
3) Passing the key combination to Chrome (if it works in a different OS or a VM, it's not a hardware/transmission issue, the OS or a program is fucking something up along the way by intercepting it)
4) Chrome itself handling it (try an older version, incognito mode without extensions, disable plugins, etc.)

DeWalt is said (on Amazon) to last ~40 mins.

It should launch the default Android file picker UI (assuming you haven't uninstalled it) in order to give the app write permissions over the SD card. Try resetting associations from the Settings app if it doesn't show up despite that. You could also install Solid Explorer as a system app to circumvent it if you have root access or a custom recovery.
