Who are the audiophiles of the cinema world?
>>
>>57205959
People who buy anything other than 1080p monitors
>>
>>57205959
Videophiles? Most people here who are anal about their video renderer configs are people who would classify as videophiles.

Cinema combines both audio and video. If you meant something that compares to the nutjobs of "high end audio", there aren't any.

There still is plenty of progress to be made in video quality. No technology shows the full spectrum of colors the human eye can see. There still is room for improvement in resolution.

There are the memesters who prefer, say, Netflix over a BD rip because the former is memer, but those people listen to memes, not reason. It's very easy to notice the difference between a measly 8GB rip from a full raw dump when you look at a fence, fire effects, etc. The importance is questionable, but it is visibly superior and easily noticeable.

There's really no placebo in video as of now.

No one, because higher quality video isn't a placebo

What about 8k or HDR?
>>
>>57205959
Guys who own their own movie projectors and refuse to watch films which were recorded digitally and not on real film.
>>
>>57206255

what song is he listening to here
>>
>>57206277
>barely a few cinemas have 35mm projectors now
>quite a few films are made on real film, but later they are distributed in digital only

Not that anon but...

HDR is a legitimate technology which as of now isn't much more than a marketing term as it imposes no limits or requirements for the actual video output.

Resolution is not a meme or "placebo"(it's not a word to use here). Higher is always better.

>higher resolution is always better
This entirely depends on the screen size and viewing distance.
>>
>>57206555
It's still always better. Oversampling can be useful and aside from bandwidth requirements it imposes, there's no downside.
>>
>>57205959
Those are some thick cables.
>>
>>57206316
Exactly why these people are the autistic audiophiles of the film world.
>>
People who watch movies or videos in uncompressed format
>>
>>57207354
Nobody does that.
>>
it's easier to compare visual differences than it is auditory differences so it's a bit harder to sell placebo videophile tech.

May I ask where do you obtain uncompressed video other than shooting it yourself with professional gear?

I do straight rips from dvds and bluerays.
>>
>>57208432
ffmpeg -i a.mp4 ...
>>
>>57208492
Both of which are heavily compressed and store a video stream which is a fraction of the bitrate of uncompressed video.

>>57208497
Input container is hardly relevant. Never seen uncompressed video being stored in .mp4 but it's possible in H.264
