But DVI-I to VGA adapter is perfectly valid.

Look at this specific adaptor.
Look at the screws placement.

Maybe I'm just retarded, but has anyone else unscrewed the "standoffs" on the video card itself while removing a DVI cable?

Only happens if you overtighten them.

Thing is with this shit that it only gets irritating when you get overenthusiastic and do a lot of stuff that requires moving things around trying to reach zen battlestation state

Im using one of these right now - only way i can run my set up - admittedly if i could use hdmi or displayport i would but the logic board has gone on my 46" so i have to use analog input using this adapter - vga can still output 1080 resolution

Besides the condition of the screws, what's the issue here? You're supposed to tighten them with your thumb and index finger. You're not even supposed to use a screwdriver, though I can't think of a retard who would do such a thing
>>
>>57208641
It's a pain in the ass to tighten them properly even with pincers.
>>
>>57208747
but you don't have to tighten the screws
just turn them until they stop, then pull the adapter half a millimeter back

>>
>>57208905
this shouldn't happen
either your adapter is shit or the socket on your graphics card is looser than your mom
>>
Fucking adapters. I went to best buy to get a DVI cable for a new monitor. It only had input for DVI and VGA.
The fucking bitch working there tried to sell me a $60 HDMI cable. I told her I didn't have HDMI, so she tried selling me an adapter too.
Still tried telling her that there was literally no difference between a $6 and $60 cable, but she continued on with her bullshit.
I know this story doesn't belong here, but I needed to get it out.

They're THUMB screws. Use your fingers to tighten them. That's why there's little grip markings around them. They screwdriver slots are only even there in case you want to make it super tight so it's hard for idiot users to remove.

>>57204900
Put the standoffs in tighter, or don't put the screws in so tight.

>>57205434
Valid and useful adapter, but there should not be a need for it.

>>57207241
WINRAR. I've always wanted to plug garden hose into HDMI and now I can.

Crossover adapter. Yeah, you used to need this or a crossover cable if you wanted to connect 2 machines together without a switch/hub/router in between.
>>
>>57209555
I have one of those, and i dont even know what is it useful for, lol

>Dumb fucking proprietary audio-over-VGA

I think it's a composite/VGA adaptater, some machines like the raspberry can output composite video through the 3.5mm Jack.
>>
>>57204838
I have one like that, you can still use flathead screwdriver, just angle it a bit. But the point is to use your fingers, as you can see from the type of crews it has there.

Someone please tell me what this is.
I know it's whatever the fuck to USB male.
I've got it from a chinese amazon shop, instead of sending me a USB-A female to micro USB male, they send me this shit and I dont even know what to use it for.
I've never seen a female port like this.
>>
>>57204966
>Do you keep you case closed too anon?

I do now. One of my cats tried to climb up inside the case a few weeks ago. I guess I apparently wasn't paying him enough attention. And I guess his plan worked because I pulled him back out by the tail, and was screaming and cussing him for being retarded, so he was getting all the attention he could handle. Then I remembered I was on the phone with my stepmom, and felt bad because I assumed she thought I was screaming profanity at her. She has cats too, so she understood when I explained what happened, so it's cool.
>>
>>57208905
Get a DVI to VGA cable then, I'm using one right now, it takes less space than a cable+adapter, and it was very cheap

I'm a machinist. It annoys me to no fucking end to see people under-tightening screws, over-tightening them, not using washers, and most of all losing fucking screws out of shit, and not replacing them. In this case snugging them up is probably sufficient, but a screwdriver is probably needed for it. Especially for people around here, as fat, greasy, soft/sensitive hands/fingers are a common handicap I assume.
>>
>>57210810
Well, that's true too... *sniff* why do you have to be so mean :(
:^)
>>
>>57204906
Yea, do something about that fucking rust. That shit annoys me. Take em out and soak in gasoline/kerosene a while, and do dry them really good before putting them back. Don't worry about not being able to shitpost, and watch your chinese cartoons while doing this. There's probably other man-jobs around your home that have been neglected for the sake of being a useless faggot, like most women are.

It's a serial cable you twats. 3.5mm ports were used as serial ports on some small devices, since all you really need is RX and TX.

lots of items use standardized parts to because its cheaper then making or having made for you a specific part, in this case they used screws with a slot head, instead of making sloots without giving head
