Another blow to AMD. Can this company do anything right?

Its been confirmed Polaris is going to be inside the new mbp.
>>
i can't wait for nvidiot gefoss 1025m in my new macbook pro with innovative oled touchbar
>>
New MacBooks launch in 4 days. Do you seriously believe they would put up job listings just one month before the product release day?

Jesus Christ, OP, try to use your brain.
>>
>>57204890

The job listings are for future stuff, they already has people working on Macs for a while, you know, people who work at Nvidia in the fist place. Use your brian.

They'll use both Nvidia and AMD in the future. In fact they'll switch some models from Intel to Zen when it's available.
>>
>>57205229

>I need sources for Nvidia having employees who work on MacOS projects

Average AMD pajeet intelligence.
>>
>>57204482
nVidia = history of housefires
Macbook = history of bad cooling
what could possibly go wrong
>>
>>57204482
This is probably just for MacBooks running the Geforce GT 750M and similar cards, pretty sure it was confirmed awhile ago that Apple was using Polaris for their next MacBook Pros and iMacs.

DELET
>>
It would be really neat if AMD had a custom chip for Apple.
>>
>>57204482
Hmm they are thinking of trashcan with nvidia quadro gpu?

Ok buddy.

exclusive feature: throttling
>>
>>57205721
If Apple can't bother making a proper cooling solution you bet it's gonna throttle unless it's 15W
>>
>>57204482
>>57204677
Why would apple use a discrete chip and not an APU?

AMD *might* have had a chance if Raven Ridge was already out, but Nvidia has *no* chance without an actual CPU.

>AYYMDPOORFAGS having any brains
>>

This is only for the higher end 15" models. The 13" doesn't ever have GPU options. This is common knowledge. There's no reason for them to go with the mobile 480 which is pretty shit, compared to the mobile 1080 or 1070 which probably produces less heat and is muh more powerful.
>>
>>57206291
>he thinks Apple will put a 100W+ GPU in a 15" laptop

Kill yourself
>>
Nvidia keeps making Mac drivers despite not being selected as GPU vendor.

The job posting is about making driver components that will keep Nvidia GPUs compatible with macOS's new Metal graphics framework.
>>
>>57206309

Kid, do you know how many normal sized laptops have 10 series GPUs? Kill yourself.
>>
>>57206362
The large majority of them don't have fucking 1070 or 1080's which are fucking housefires in laptops.
And the ones that do have them weight around 4 kilos and have as much minutes of battery life.

>>
>>57206403
Apple is more open to change than other OEMs, if Zen is power efficient but not notably slower than Kaby Lake they'll likely switch since they'll also get AMD's graphics in an APU.

Are you deliberately being ignorant and just sperging off? How fucking dumb are you?

http://venturebeat.com/2016/10/20/razers-4k-blade-pro-keeps-its-slim-figure-even-with-an-nvidia-gtx-1080-gpu/
>>
>>57206476
That's cute and all, but that's a 17" laptop and is heavy, the battery life is even more of a joke considering the power hungry screen and GPU.

It also costs like $2000
>>
>>57206498
>$2000
More like $3500
>>
There have been no signs of Nvidia Pascal support in Sierra and every sign of mobile Polaris support.
>>
>>57206514
>$3500 for a fucking 1080 on a tiny screen

I don't even understand anymore.
>>
>>57206498

>b-b-b-b-but

Shut the fuck up, retard. You got proved to be a drolling ignorant cunt, just accept it without talking about battery life or price. You thought it hadn't even been done. This is a gaymen laptop, top of the line Intel processors and crazy storage options, mechanical keyboard etc. It has a lot to fit in there and it also has to run a 4K screen. The MBP will not have any of this, the expected use of the GPU in that will be rendering tasks and medium intensity casual gaming. Apple could have gone from anything in the 10 series, even a 1050.
>>
>>57206557
>The MBP will not have any of this
It will have a proper Operating system and not need to recharge after an hour.
>>
>>57206476
>run demanding work on this
>200 watts of heat from the CPU/GPU/screen contained in that small piece of aluminum
>can cook an egg on the touchpad
>smoke coming out of the vents like it's a barbecue
>heat has nowhere to go and the laptop starts shaking from the pressure
>accumulated pressure makes the weakest link(bottom) explode
>laptops falls through the hole in the desk made by itself
>...

SO THIN SO QUIET
>>

>Le housefire meme

It's funny how AMD Poojeets keep screaming this after their employer released 5 housefire generations in a row.
>>
>>57205652
>implying that line wasnt just written by some HR drone at nvidia that doesnt know anything about upcomming projects
>>
>>57206656
Regardless if it's AMD or Nvidia putting a 100W+ GPU in a laptop is a fucking housefire.

DERET DIS
>>
There are several Thunderbolt eGPU solutions being made for Macs, it's feasible that Nvidia are supporting them if Apple won't.

or possibly going to make their own.
>>
IF THE FUCKING THING STILL THROTTLES AND THE FANS STILL MAKE JET NOISES AND THE CPU STILL GETS 100C DEGREES IN NO TIME:

THERE IS NO REASON TO BUY IT
>>
>>57205982
T-Tegra is better than A10

DELET THIS!!!!
>>
>>57206291
Apple got burned too badly by Nvidia on those older MBPs, they're not using them.
>>
>>57206362
Apple doesn't make Gaymen products. You have a better chance of an ARM macbook pro than one with anything better than a 1060
>>
>>57206440
Well also it's an actual GPU and not some Intel trash
>>
>>57206692
Fucking this! A thousand times this. Doesn't help that current gen mobile GPUs are actually MORE power hungry than previous gens. The 980m and 1080 are both ~130 watt cards, the 780m and all other high end cards before that were 100 watt cards. This is NOT a step in the right direction.
>>
>>57207261
You morons don't realize Apple software is made to run better on OS X than other bullshit

That's why Chrome is cancer and Safari makes your battery last for nine hours with no full powered fans coming on

It's called optimization
>>
>>57204482
>The job listings do not guarantee that Apple will use Nvidia chips either. The company has been known to pit two component manufacturers against each other in the past to the get the better deal, and given AMD currently has a price advantage over Nvidia's more premium offerings, it may once again come out on top.
>>
>>57207371
fucking shitposter. There is no reason for a cpu to constantly stay at 100C even when full loaded. Fans and heatsink can't cool shit and yet still makes jet noises.
>>
>>57205982
Cause AMD X86 architecture does not go well with OSX/MacOS.
>>
120W chips should be kept to freaking desktops or rugged, industrial/military laptops with 3 kilos of battery alone.
>>
>>57206546
And this is a Razer, imagine a MacBook price with that in it.
>>
>>57207443
You're saying like Razer doesn't overprice as shit, possibly more than Apple.
>>
>>57207397
thats why it throttles, the cpu clockspeed is cut in half and the fanspeed goes 100% until it goes back to it normal temp activity.
>>
>>57205982
Apple hasn't used a dedicated gpu in anything but the 15" MBP in years
>>
>>57207407
fucking what
>>
>>57207506

27" 5k imac

mac pro
>>
>>57204482
We've know the next MBP was gonna use Polaris for awhile
>>
>>57204482
unless it will have an OLED HDR display it's not worth buying
>>
>>57208258
Not that guy but he's half right, bulldozer doesn't play well with hackintosh but phenom II did. Can't remember the explanation precisely but it was something to do with some extension.

Bulldozer was weird in a lot of ways. Mass Effect had some bizarre character model bugs on some levels with bulldozer derivatives, for example. It won't be missed.
