Plus you get updates straight from Google and I predict it will at least get updates till Android 8.

If you want a stock phone with a decent camera on a budget it is a good alternative but the 2gb ram may be a limiting factor if you plan to use it for many years

nexus 5x if you won't use it for long time, if you want durable phone look for removable battery and custom rom support. if you don't mind meme resolution you can buy s4 mini, it has removable battery and official cyanogenmod support, but samsung isn't really durable (literally plastic) so i'd recommend any xiaomi phone with removable battery, sd card slot, custom rom development, if it exists.

If you don't care about playing games on it, then it's a great phone. I got mine a few weeks ago for about $180 for the 32GB version. It has a great camera and receives updates from Google for at least another year, and then security updates after that.

Using it right now. Stock android runs and feels great. Handles my daily activities well, mostly switching between social media/message boards etc. Finger print reader in the back is bomb.

Worst part is the battery. You can't really bring this phone to work for an 8 hour day without a charger. It really really sucks, like the worst battery I've every used in a phone. At least it charges really fast.
