hey /g/ whats the best ideal filesystem to be using for linux? currently backing my shit up to go full debian, i have an SSD which will be for debian and then a normal drive for all my storage which im currently backing up and will probably make ext4. should i stick ext4 on the ssd too or is there anything significantly better
hfs+ or ntfs

btrfs is bestfs

Unicode filesystems... Case insensitive? Unicode equivalency comparisons? What the fuck???!!?!?

btrfs is a piece of shit that doesn't even survive some fuzzing. Everyone who claims that btrfs is a good filesystem is just full of shit.
Use ext4, it's traditional, but relatively safe.

Automated snapshots not only solve that problem (and it will be fixed properly eventually), but they also provide a means of restoring files from back in time.

Some argue it's better for users, but I don't necessarily think that's the case either.

On what? Another btrfs partition? Or are you going to use a proper file system for those? Because then you can just directly use that proper file system and not bother with the broken system instead.
Automated snapshots - yes, but for catastrophic incidents and not for just USING the system.
