The only thing about windows that is a security nightmare are the updates. If it was FOSS you could easily get rid of that. Linux is pretty much a security disaster aswell. Just recently there was a bug that was in Linux for roughly 10 years that allowed you to bring up a root shell from a webserver, say. Mainly due to poor paging code.

That's not to say Windows has no bugs, but calling it a security nightmare is wrong in this context. Privacy nightmare on the other hand...

FYI: I strongly dislike Windows and would never recommend it to anyone, but at least hate it for the right reasons anon.

The latest kernel literally just disabled the invariants, or is going to according to Linus. That's quite bad. Using grsec + PaX is great, I agree. Except you can do the same thing on Windows. You can harden it using their mandatory integrity control and on a per-binary ASLR. Which by the way, is better than the Linux one, but probably not better than the PaX one. Likewise, you have plenty of alternatives to Windows firewall, but it is nonetheless good enough, and certainly better than the crap that iptables provides, I mean have you really ever used that in production and look at the rules of a server you have to maintain? I sure hope to god you never have to.
