Buy an i7 with nvidia graphics, 12gb ram, 2 tb hdd, then it will last me for years and years if I look after it.

As cool as the concept for gpu passtrough is for me i have to say doing it for games is plain retarded. Dual boot is enough ,in the end you are still using Windows. I mean concept of having one server and multiple workstations that are just monitors+peripherials in schools or something is way cooler, something like Linus(the hardware shill) done is way cooler. Especially if you could dynamically allocate/split performance between them.

OP is right. If you're using Linux on your PC, it better be a low powered one like a laptop with a Core M CPU or something. Running Linux on some high end i7 with a high end GPU is pretty much pointless.
