I'd never heard of internet data caps until I got to /g/, but my internet speed is abysmal. I accredit that to the fairly rural and remote yet populated area that I live in, meaning that there is no urban tier infrastructure for our internet, yet there's lots of people using it, making my average download speed around 400kb/s.

400kb/s guy here, that is pretty shitty. They're limiting what you can download by a factor of ten despite your low download speed. I just want to live in a not shitty place. My average ping when playing any game is around 100 ms, often hitting a consistent 150 ms for a few hours at a time. It's not entirely unplayable, but makes a noticeable annoyance.
