For me it has too many problems to list in one comment, but the TL;DR is that compared to Win 7 it is less consistently designed, reduces user control over the OS and has less customization community support.

Clementine is pretty good when it's configured to be as minimal as possible. I also like Deadbeef on Arch and Manjaro. Foobar2000 is my all-time favorite, but last time I ran it with Wine, it had some very annoying issues. Would be great if the developer made Linux versions.

What I don't understand is how foobar2000 is SO FUCKING FAST at indexing my 300GB music library, but all other players take minutes. Clementine takes like 3 solid minutes to get everything, and Deadbeef takes closer to 10. And then foobar2000 just holds onto it and never requires me to re-index the entire fucking library whenever I add new folders or songs.
