Yakuake. Maximum convenience and looks nice.
>>57148316
it's pretty much just a fork/extension of konsole. that said, it's very convenient.

I use Terminator or iTerm lack of splitting in xfce4 makes me sick.
guys, I need help. I'm new to linux and it only came with (u)xterm. I fiddled around a bit but it never did what I wanted so I installed gnome-terminal or whatever it's called and I somehow cannot make it transparent. Should I continue to use gnome-terminal (had to install lots of dependencies just for it so it's kinda bloaty) or are there better ones?
>>57147802
I used to use mate's, but ever since they began the transition to GTK3 it became a bit fucked up.
>>57147802
So... it's GTK3 nao?
>>57148598
Install Konsole.

>gnome-terminal or whatever it's called and I somehow cannot make it transparent.
Gnome removed that in certain version and brought it back in another. xfce4-terminal has transparency but uses slightly less amount of memory than gnome terminal.
>>57148598
gnome terminal doesn't have transparency, but there are a lot of alternatives. you just have to keep looking until you find the one you like. also, xfce4 has transparency out of the box and is fairly lightweight
>>57148231
This. Gnome terminal is nice, I like Guake, too.
I've used sakura for years with no problems. It's light and does everything I need a terminal emulator for.

>Gnome removed that in certain version and brought it back in another
lol
>>57148760
I thought it was funny too, I was confused to why my terminal lost transparency after I updated and found out it was removed from the settings.
>>57148354
Is that pianobar?
>>57147802
Terminix.
>>57147802
I like rxvt-unicode it's fast and lightweight
iTerm with Menlo font
>>57148316
This.
Terminator for work - splitting is a killer feature, much better implemented than in Konsole.
Yakuake/Guake for quick commands in drop down. They seem to be equally usable.

xfce's can do this too
I use xfce4-terminal for DE's and rxvt-unicode for WM's.
>>57148966
it's a fork called pianobarfly that records .m4a files with embedded album art.
Termite. It works.
>>57147802
konsole is awesome
>>57150026
Konsole is nice, supports almost everything.
>>57150744
it is. and fuck tmux / screen, tabs ftw
>>57148231
xfce terminal works fine with 256 colors seems like a (you) problem
Qterminal. I have no need for anything fancy.
>>57148717
nice waifu
>>57152469
kek I use spacemacs, konsole is nice for vim editing. I don't use tmux much cause it messes up powerline :(
>>57152469
What do you dislike about a panes workflow?
>>57156362
it's paneful
i use xterm and havent really tried anything else. Why should i switch?
I also use xfce4 although I'm looking for something less buggy as it occasionally starts destroying printed history characters as I go up and down command history
Terminix is pretty good.
>>57147802
As long as I can set font size per window, I'm fine. Now using gnome-terminal
