Dark like my soul to be honest senpai.

>>57147555
There are a lot of dark themes that look good but a few light themes that I will use too. I actually author programs outside frequently enough to not worry as much about eye strain

Both. High Contrast themes are goat

God it hurts my eyes. AT LEAST make your terminal a darker shade.

Light for most gui applications, dark for text editor and terminal

No. I usually keep my brightness low and it keeps me up during work.

There's a reason why a lot of 'accessibility' themes / css / whatnot are black on white - its objectively easier to read, unless you have a weird monitor or some sort of special colorblindness. You shouldn't be working so late at night anyways. I use Tomorrow or Solarized light for everything.

I made up this green theme for Windows 7 after I read the operating rooms are green because it's easier on the eyes over long periods of time.

It looked kind of dumb at first, but I decided to give it a try, and I will say that it actually does work pretty well. I might try to make 4chan look like this.

I used to be a darkfag, I even wrote a 4chan dark theme and used it for years.

But a big problem for me are my eye floaters and while you do notice them more atop a bright white background, being exposed to bright light all the time makes you ignore them. When I used dark themes on every website, I would then walk away from my computer and start seeing the floaters.

Bright is the way to make them go away

Notice how the gaymer shit that all my Windows friends use is the only black shit.
It's still balanced however.

>>57151952
>But why not make the UI ... dark
Because that ALWAYS leads to UI glitches, regardless of platform.

>AND the web dark
Because most sites online are dark text on a light background. Using scripts that try to change this will ALWAYS lead to bad results eventually, such as raster parts of a site which remain the same bright color despite everything else now being darker.

>actually save your eyes?
Why do people keep repeating this shitty meme? You're not supposed to have your monitor at 100% brightness, dunce. You are also supposed to have some kind of ambient lighting, preferably bias light that's behind the monitor. The combination of a dimmer back light and the bias lighting make blacks seem more black and raises the apparent contrast.
>>
>>57152024
It fucks with your eyes anon. Sure it can be nice for a rice screenshot. but darker BG etc is more relaxing and works with colors much more . And if you code
>>
>>57152024
>Because that ALWAYS leads to UI glitches, regardless of platform.

> Using scripts that try to change this will ALWAYS lead to bad results eventually
wat. 95% of the time I sepnd browsing the web are ~20 websites, all of which have well developed over the time good looking dark stylesheets.

>>57152045
Only if you're being a retard with 100% brightness in a dark room. That's not how you're supposed to use monitors. If you actually cared about reducing eye strain you'd setup some kind of bias lighting, which only costs dollars these days. Fuck, just put a desk lamp behind your monitor if you're that poor.

>>57152073
>kek'd
>I bet you use windows.
You're lying to yourself if you have never run into UI glitches using a dark theme on Linux. Everyone who has tried has, so who are you trying to fool?

>wat. 95% of the time I sepnd browsing the web are ~20 websites, all of which have well developed over the time good looking dark stylesheets.
And as soon as you need to google something and end up on a page you haven't worked on you either need to rely on a shoddy script that will half ass make the site dark, or burn your eyes because you seem to think your monitor works best at 100% brightness. Protip: It doesn't. That's now how you use a monitor.

>Someone needs to do his research
No, you need to do your research. One of the most common things you hear is "never use a bright screen in a dark room". Again, if you actually care about eye fatigue you'll use bias lighting. It has far more benefits than using dark themes with no downsides.
>>
>>57152024
So you have the 3/3 on purpose? I would just use a light theme on both steam and discord but hey, its not my computer.

>>
I just
set bg=dark
when in a dark room.
>>
>>57153437
This fails even on Wikipedia, where equations are white-background images.
>>
>>57153487
True for more than that example, but it can fix a lot of websites.

Better yet, a website with an option to choose a dark or light theme (I've integrated this for a long time in the form of a "high contrast" version which is ugly (necessarily) but matches most "dark as my soul" themes nicely.
>>
>>57153487
Don't visit Wikipedia, problem solved.
Or you can get a script which dims images until mouse over
>>
>>57153563
Yeah, I can write a script like that for every website I visit that happens to have bright background images.

Or I can just keep my room well-lit.
>>
>>57153597
It you use a script like that you'd have it run on every site.

I'm not a darkfag but I was years ago. It's totally doable with very minor inconsistencies if you're autism enough. I actually prefer medium light gray desktops now. I don't like dark themes. Dark accents like menus or titlebars are OK but overall light is superior
>>
I prefer my Internet theme light but minimal. Most of the Internet is light themed, so having dark themes kinda ruins it for me since there is so much ugly clash.

Arc darker does this perfect.

If possible, grey.

If it's too dark, some things are actually harder to see. If it's too light, it's just not good for the eyes.

Pic related has nice colors.
>>
>>57147555
Usually light but light themes are harder to see terminal colors on. Today I decided to do some dark ricing.
