Will e10s and WebExtensions save Firefox?
No, nothing can save Firefox.
i will maintain my own fork of firefox before i ever use botnet
>>57145450
Which one?
>tfw Firefox has been the only major browser using a single process architecture for the past five years
Nostalgia enthusiasts are literally killing software projects like Firefox by trying to keep them irrelevant, just like they whined about Australis.
Just move all the old antiquated stuff to Pale Moon and let them wallow in their single-processor nostalgia swamp there.
>>57145493
which firefox? i'd probably use the latest ESR version
>>57145508
I thought you were already maintaining a fork
>>57145565
is english your first language?
Not enough. It needs Servo ASAP
>>57145575
Nope. Why is that? Was my syntax incorrect?
>>57145416
>e10s
is implemented very poorly
>>57145901
nope. it was my autism kicking in, sorry
when I used firefucks it crashed at least once a day and leaked memory out the fucking peehole, even with e10s on
I've been using seamonkey for a good month and I think it crashed once and never leaks memory, and is also not depricated as fuck like pale meme is
>>57145901
syntax is fine, but you misunderstood my statement
>>57145502
>implying there is another serious browse other than sjwfox and chrome
>>57145502
Palememe isn't a mozzarella project.
>implying XUL isn't a major selling point
>>57147223
>Palememe
Is an old version of firefox with some about:config tweaks that is slower than the latest ff.
All palememe users choke on a cock cause you guys are retarded.
>>57147594
>Is an old version of firefox
unosay?
>implying i'm not using palememe
Though this will be the last version and then i will compile ff to my needs.
>>57146237
I'm getting so tired of this seamonkey meme.
>>57145416
No.
But they can help keep it in life support until Servo arrives.
>>57147223
>implying XUL isn't a major selling point
Using XUL makes absolutely no fucking sense in this day and age. It's a fucking browser, FUCKING RENDER YOURSELF WITH YOUR OWN WEB ENGINE.
See: browser.html for Servo.
>>57148309
nice /v/ post
Firefox will be saved when they abandon Gecko and use Blink.
They can still keep the same open source philosophy, layout, features etc on top. But they need to adopt the underlying Blink engine.
Until then, I'm sticking with Opera.
>>57149209
"Optimized for IE" 2.0
>>57148423
And when will that be? It's been in development for years already.
57145416 >Will e10s and WebExtensions save Firefox?
Don't know, but I hope the next update is better cause 47.01 keeps fucking crashing.
>>57149705
Firefox is already on 49.0.1. Upgrade your browser.
https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/49.0.1/releasenotes/
>>57149736
That's Mint for you, I checked for an update and mozilla says it's up to date.
>>57148309
It's not that bad but IceCat is better for the average user.
>>57145416
No because they come at the cost of more stupid features and less useful features. Normies use Chrome, people who care about extensibility use Firefox, and those people have been alienated by Mozilla.
>>57149209
No. The last thing the world needs is a 2893479th fucking fork of Webkit.
>>57148453
XUL made sense at one point because HTML apparently didn't support all the things Mozilla wanted. These days I'm pretty sure HTML5 can do basically everything and more so keeping XUL around is just bloat.
>>57145502
Palemoon needs sse2 though. Firefox ESR is best.
e10s will never make it until the fucking extension creators realize that it's existed for years, because as of now, only a quarter work perfectly with it enabled, with the rest in various states of being broken, and most devs don't make it any easier by ignoring e10s compatibility requests because it still doesn't exist outside of Nightly and other development versions
>>57149209
>Firefox will be saved when they abandon Gecko and use Blink.
Gecko's rendering is better. Fonts look more readable. Webkit renders fonts a tad smaller, which is retarded.
LMFAO NO
These tests were done on a Skylake Xeon, 16GB of RAM and a PCI-Express SSD. e10s enabled and dom.ipc.processCount set to 50. Now tell me Firefox isn't slow:

>>57152476
What the fuck?
Internet speed varies a lot.
Maybe try loading some huge local pages instead?
Get out.
>>57145416
>saving firefox
>>57152531
You can't handle the truth can you?
Firecocks will always be fucking shit and there's nothing you can do about it. And no matter how deep you go into the nile, it won't change reality. Sleep tight mozillacuck. :^)
>>57149209
Mozilla's mission means they cannot adopt the most popular rendering engine. They have a responsibility to their contributors to keep the web from being restricted to one rendering engine or browser.
On the other hand Mozilla *is* adopting technologies and concepts from Chromium where appropriate.
>>57145416
>will destroying the extensibility and customizability that makes Firefox popular save Firefox?
No
>>57153086
XUL extensions are on their way out. WebExtensions are the future.
>>57145416
Firefox announced that they're going to port over the highest voted old APIs from top to bottom from a survey. Fill out the fucking survey so /g/ can be happy again.

Ayy lmao
>>57145416
No OP, SJWFox is beyond salvation at this point, the market share will keep falling till about 3% or 4% in the next couple of years.
>>57153851
Sorry botnet installing chromecuck, Google is and always will be SJW the company.
Only servo can save firefox.
>>57154356
I don't give a fuck, I don't use Google products.
>>57154424
This, we already have Brave and ice weasel.
>>57152298
Actually, I just realized there is a non-sse2 build of Palemoon here: ftp://ftp.palemoon.org/SSE/
Modern technology is for plebs.
