>Since when do you use it?
3 months

>Are you satisfied?
Overall yes.

>Which ROM/kernel/patches are you using?
xiaomi.eu ROM, which is MIUI with less bloat.
Would use CM if there was a good CM ROM.

>What's your battery life like?
Usually I charge it every second night.

>Which bugs or annoyances do you experience?
Autobrightness is not working very well, pretty bad actually
I sometimes have problems with mobile data connections
I also hate that the minimal volume of the speakers, when on a call, is still too loud... why not let the user make the speakers as silent as they want? Dumb

Otherwise it works perfectly.
>>
Also are you guys using a screen protector?
I mean this phone doesn't have gorilla glass.

I'm not using a screen protector and still after all this time my screen looks like brand new. Guess they are using something very similar to gorilla glass.
>>
>Since when do you use it?
Been using it for 2-3 months now
>Are you satisfied?
Absolutely
>Which ROM/kernel/patches are you using?
CM13 without custom kernel, but with a couple of xposed modules and tweaked dpi.
>What's your battery life like?
9h sot, 2-3 days of use
>Which bugs or annoyances do you experience?
There's a really small gap in the lower body. It's invisible and can't be felt, but leads to a creaking noise when I hold it with my fingers supporting the bottom.
I also have issues with the auto brightness

I am 120 USD of satisfied
>Which ROM/kernel/patches are you using?
Some Pajeet CM13 build off XDA. Last time I looked official CM13 builds were ass.
>What's your battery life like?
About four days. I only use it on the commute to and from work, and to play LoveLiveSchoolIdolFestival.
>Which bugs or annoyances do you experience?
Lock button seems to be broken, it only works 40% of the time.
>>
rmn3p, 2 motnths - 7.3 global stable, satisfied enough, battery time is great but sometimes the fingerprint scanner is not repsonding well and once it blocked completly, also I got screen frozen once, couldnt do anything and had to reboot - I hope it's not gonna be happening again and again

> So far the battery has fit pretty well my daily use, I never ran out of juice.
> The goodix fingerprint sensor isn't that stable on custom ROMs, this meaning that it can only read my finger at a certain position. Also the Headphone jack only works when you plug it fast, if you take some time putting it in, it won't work.

Overall it's an excellent phone with no major problems, just a few quirks. Would definitely recommend it to anyone.

Redmi owners: do you have issues with getting push notifications? I've seen many reports about whatsapp/kik/messenger etc not getting new messages until you open the app.

and how buggy is MiUi in general?

>t. potential buyer
>>
>>57145001
>do you have issues with getting push notifications?
Nope, never

Also you can set messengers and stuff to be unaffected by the battery management. Then you definitely get push messages as they come.
>>
>>57145001
Nothing but I'm on CM rather than MIUI. There might be problems on MIUI but they're not hardware (or at least, not my hardware).
>>
>>57145001
>and how buggy is MiUi in general?
The UI itself is very stable, even on developer ROM.

It's more the kernel drivers or configurations that make problems sometimes (battery saver not letting push messages though, auto brightness working weirdly, ...)

It's a good phone for an immensely good value, but you're coming from a walled-garden flagship and will probably create a platform war shitpost thread after 2 days of use because the chinese bloatware annoys you and you think rooting and flashing a custom rom is too much hassle to get your money's worth out of a budget phone.

I haven't played around with MIUI for too long. It's very nice, but you need their fucking Mi account for absolutely everything and I did not feel like embracing the chinese botnet. So I'd recommend installing a custom ROM in any case. But ymmv, MIUI is not bad, after all

>>
>>57144572
> Since when do you use it?
A few months?

> Are you satisfied?
Yes. I wished they still had the old recovery where you could just flash whatever though.

It was much better than the current unlocking nonsense with this shitty stock recovery the device has.

Shit, it made getting rid of 3rd party bloatware ROMs more painful rather than preventing them from being installed at all.

> Which ROM/kernel/patches are you using?
Stock MIUI with root.

> What's your battery life like?
I recharge about every 3 days in most cases.

My battery is the same as everyone elses though, so that's more about my usage I guess?

> Which bugs or annoyances do you experience?
Again, the recovery and locking business suck, conceptually and in terms of details.

And that the global developer ROM doesn't have stock root, unlike the Chinese developer ROM.
>>
>>57148680
The offcial global ROMs have fairly little extra bloatware installed.

You probably got a chink rom or vendor rom and didn't follow /csg/'s advice to unlock and flash them away immediately on receiving the phone to minimize risks and inconvenience.
>>
>>57148623
Thanks for the tip anon, was about to do it. Sorry about your phone though
>>
>>57149063
Why even bother with the official unlock? Unofficial is easy as fuck to do and in the unlikely event that you have a service partner nearby, you can always fully restore and send it in under warranty

>>
>>57149308
Yea, that should work then. I personally want MIUI.

I've enabled app lock for most of my apps, one of them being Skype. Often I get important calls and I have to first unlock my phone through fingerprint, but often I can't unlock the app with my fingerprint while it's ringing, I don't know why. I can unlock it with a code though.

For some reason when I had MIUI 8.0 on android 5.0, the phone kept dropping my signal or saying it had not sim when it was in the phone.

I flashed CM13 which upgraded android os to 6.0 and now my phone is fine and swell. No longer dropping my signal or saying theres no sim.

Sure thing, buddy.

It seems OK so far. I think I should've got something a bit better but it's good, I'll probably upgrade again within the next year and keep it as a backup after that.

CM13

Seems to drain really fast, I need to see if it can be optimised.

Nothing so far.

MIUI was utter shit. Nothing worked as it should, there were force closes and I never got notifiations. CM13 works nice tho

I wish Xiaomi would make a phone exactly like the note 3 but with a 2.5d screen and a colorful plastic black. That would be the dream right there
>>
Had mine since July, best phone I've used.

Using CM13 nightly and radon kernel, I update both every other week. Battery life is at least 9 hours of SoT with max adaptive brightness, and I use a bluetooth smartbracelet and bluetooth gamepad often with PSP emulation (playing crisis core right now). If I were to use it like my HTC One M7 that struggled to get 4hrs SoT, I'd

CM13 works fine. MIUI had some bug relating to music that would cause a wakelock to set in until reboot otherwise the battery would drain with less than 6 hours SoT. I kept trying the latest betas and they never fixed it, happened with poweramp but not with the stock music program.

Camera has no image stabilization and sucks in the dark, but seems to do better than my other phones I've had anyways.

How easy it is to flash a ROM to this phone made me a xiaomi fan.
>>
>Since when do you use it?
Since Q1 or Q2, got the MediaKek Hennesy version, since Qualcomm Kenzo wasn't announced yet. Tho, I just bought Kenzo for my gf.

>Are you satisfied?
Absolutely. Got it free from work and use it as a work/personal phone with dual sims.

>Which ROM/kernel/patches are you using?
Still using seller's "global" ROM. Its just china ROM translated to english. Tried unlocking and flashing to xiaomi.eu, but this is babby's first android and I somehow can't even get to fastboot mode with volume down + power.

>What's your battery life like?
2-3 days with some whatsapp use.

>Which bugs or annoyances do you experience?
Fingerprint reader stops working randomly, but gets fixed with a reboot.

>Since when do you use it?

>Are you satisfied?
Yes

>Which ROM/kernel/patches are you using?
MIUI8

>What's your battery life like?
I'm pretty OCD about charging my phone but it can last me a full day out, as long as I turn off data and WiFi when I'm not using it and adjust brightness accordingly

>Which bugs or annoyances do you experience?
the brightness adjustment bar pisses me off.. The first 10% of it is really dark and then it gets super bright
Fingerprint scanner doesn't always work properly
Apps like SoundCloud at times quit without warning, but this could be an issue with SC itself
Awful lag that forced me to factory reset my phone 2-3 times
Most of the bugs are with MIUI. The only reason I have not installed another ROM is cause I've not heard of anything better (that has all of the features of MIUI)
>>
>>57148930
http://en.miui.com/unlock/

Sign up the a Miui account and apply for unlocking permissions. Took me like two weeks to get mine approved.

Then you can just use their super easy pleb mode kit to flash ROMs without any dumping or hacking to unlock the bootloader.
>>
>>57157493
Different anon, but the official unlocking process is the one with the risk of stopping at 50%, right? Is that like a soft brick scenario or can I just quit the process if it happens to me?
>>
>>57157493
It's unlocked senpai. Just wanted to make sure I don't fuck it up.
>>
>>57157529
You can do over if that happens. Just take the usual precautions when you flash something:

* Full charge your laptop and phone before starting,
* Keep them plugged in,
* Close unnecessary programs on your computer before your start running the flash, reduces the chance of being fucked by some other process hogging memory from the flash.

Even if the official one goes super bad, there is an unofficial hard flashing method that works even when the you've bricked it.
>>

The bootloader unlocker tells me I have a different account linked to the phone from the one I enter, even though it isn't.

> my phone came with a Goodix fingerprint sensor. Only recently has it started getting ROM support and despite their best efforts it has some glitches, like short periods of time where it will simply refuse to accept a finger. Plus CM14 still isn't supported because most devs have the older fingerprint sensor

Official CM13 Nightlies + Xposed with Open Gapps Pico, I flashed some pajeet kernel I think, on advice from the official CM13 XDA thread, don't think this made a difference tho
>What's your battery life like?
Absolutely insane - days and days. Use Amplify, but I am a light user. I would say with heavy Pajeet screen on time levels 1-2 days.
>Which bugs or annoyances do you experience?
Very very occasional (think this has happened two or three times in total) short freezes, occasional "service has stopped working" window (handful of times total), only things that do not work are front facing camera and fingerprint scanner (depends on the hardware you have) overall it's probably the most stable android experience I've ever had.

>>
>>57158988
In terms of features, global dev is totally fine. Depending on how old it is, it could still have the old quick-settings in the notifications-bar, which are kinda shit in terms of usability.

global dev is mostly also working very stable, and updated more often, like every week.

xiaomi.eu is based on the chinese dev rom, which is the most current rom. It is in my opinion very similar to the global dev rom, but some apps (like IR blaster app) are newer than the one used in the global dev, because they are translated versions from the chinese dev version. Also xiaomi.eu has less MIUI apps. I don't remember which, but xiaomi.eu has only the "essential" MIUI apps and also has less google apps. The global dev versions have the complete gapps package, while xiaomi.eu just has the google core apps and you need to install what you want.

In terms of stability they are all pretty stable. I personally prefer xiaomi.eu. But I also had global dev in the past and it was pretty fine as well.

Using an old build from this thread on a Kenzo device without problems. Have to use a patched TWRP rather than the official one otherwise it wont boot when you first flash, but you can change version if you want after (unsure why you'd want to).

A lot of western devs hate working with pajeets. Good projects are outsourced to pajeets to solve (think a million monkeys with a million typewriters) and then a competent dev comes in at the end to wrap it up.

We'll see a good western build when/if CM14 gets good and Xiaomeme releases updated kernal sources.

There's no reason you should be using cm13.

MIUI is the most stable and every single feature works across all the variations.

I'll probably switch when cm14 comes out but yeah MIUI for now.

Dare I say I find cm/AOSP ugly as fuck compared to miui

Only issues I have with MIUI is that it is not as snappy as cm, but it's equally smooth and doesn't lag, it just has an inherent delay when launching stuff for some reason.

The baked in greenify is awesome when you get it working right

I tried to unlock the bootloader, but got fucked on 50% when it told me I the accounts on the phone and the one I enter are different (they aren't)

The edl method fucks me on

CM14 + AGNi kernel

CM14 is working flawlessly now. There were a few kinks but it's lit.
Bluetooth audio might not work, but I don't have a bluetooth car system or speaker to test it.

yeah, that was it

I remember I had some missteps with edl flashing but I managed eventually

now when I think of it; try to install Mi PC Suite
http://en.miui.com/thread-92720-1-1.html

I was playing with it BEFORE flashing and remember that something with the flashing guide wasn't right because drivers for rmn3p were already there, now I think that reason for those drivers to be present was MiPCSuite

You can request the bootloader unlock, CM works flawlessly on the first batch devices but has quite some problems on the later batches related to drivers
>>57155744
GSMArena claims the RN4 is better value than the RN3P, you get slower single thread performance though better build quality, camera and multi-threaded/GPU performance
But MediaTek is usually awful in custom rom support, so you will probably be stuck with MIUI, also single thread performance has quite more impact than multi-threaded performance, and the GPU difference is minimal
RN4P might come with a Snapdragon SoC, but it probably will be priced around 250, which is ZUK Z2 and Mi5 territory

question regarding the mi flash tool
it wants some files to exist in the rom image, http://en.miui.com/static/article/innerimg/tongyong/tongyong-3-2.jpg (from http://en.miui.com/thread-307744-1-1.html)
but all the global roms from http://en.miui.com/download-301.html
have a completely different structure and the flasher tells me to fuck off, any tips?

Bought mine at aliexpress (top one) and they shipped it in 8 or 9 days, don't remember. But actually the shipping just took like 4 days and the other days was just them "preparing" the shipment or whatever the fuck they were doing.

Since July

nah. probably a defective unit.

Currently MIUI global + radon

This is why I am not satisfied.
It was fine for 2 weeks, now I can not get my RN3P anywhere near the advertised battery life, again probably a defective unit.

I've tried CM, custom kernels, reflashing, fully wiping + clean flash, full wipe + mi flash, basically everything anyone suggested ever.

I can not get this device to function well
>Which bugs or annoyances do you experience?
Battery life.

If anyone has any tips please post them.

(It's the international version though)
>>
>>57162309
Why does that matter? It's Android, you can just change everything if you want to
>>
>>57163897
Sounds like a sw issue.
Try a complete MIUI flash with fastboot. Maybe you installed some shitty firmware or something. With fastboot you should be able to get it to stock conditions. Then check battery life again.

So the screen with your phone and a usb cable is only suppose to appear as recovery before I've unlocked the device...so why is it that it's still there afterwards?
>>
>>57163897
So what sort of battery life DO you get? Post some fucking info nigger. Even a fucking screenshot of android battery usage charts and what screen on time you're getting.
>>
Does the international/special edition version come only in Dark Gray or are there different colours as well? I'm leaning towards buying the white/silver version but it's the chinkchong version only from what I've seen.
>>
After going through all the trouble of trying to do it the way the chinks wanted me to do it with the bootloader crap I have been tough a valuable lesson, that I shouldn't have bothered. In the end the way to solve the issue is always through a gross hack that ignores the developers intentions, and that's how it should be.
Thank you asian sages for bestowing this wisdom on me, HEIL ROOT.

You must have been really unlucky or did something wrong because it was a piece of piss.
>>
>>57165104
It's acceptable for the price considering the rest of the specs but its definitely a downgrade from my old S5 camera. Front facing camera is better though but I don't really use it.
>>
>>57165300
the phone and the miui tools were convinced the bootloader was unlocked - but it wasnt
every time I tried to unlock it after that I got told it was unlocked, maybe it was a freak accident, or maybe chinks hate me or maybe the guy who sold it to me over ali fucked it who knows
>>
>>57165348
I'm guessing you followed all the guides properly and whatnot? There are plenty of posts on the xiaomi forum about unlock procedure stopping at 50% or other issues but most of them are human errors and the rest never really figure out why its not working. I think you might have just been unlucky. You never know, the next version of the unlock tool might just work.

Annoyance with my particular device? It has a rear camera module that seems to be new and relatively rare so not many devs have incorporated the drivers into their roms/kernels yet. It's a chink device at chink prices at the end of the day.
>>
>>Since when do you use it?

February maybe?

>>Are you satisfied?

Absolutely. Cam is only drawback.

>>Which ROM/kernel/patches are you using?

Santhosh's CM14 with stock kernel

>>What's your battery life like?

I use it very heavily, maybe a day and a half?

>>Which bugs or annoyances do you experience?

CM14 is in alpha. Livedisplay if buggy af, and camera bugs out 10% of the time.
>>
>>57147825
The Oneplus 3 is a better phone, but it's not 2 or 3 times better.

I was tired of rooting and installing custom ROMs so the Oneplus was definitely the best choice for me.
