Apple's really going to the facebook-machine side. It's the Macbook PRO. It's not meant for Facebook, it's for PROfessionals, but it doesn't even have a fucking USB port. I switched from my MBA 2014 to a Dell XPS a few months ago and I don't regret it one single bit.
>>
>>57141117
It has 4 USB ports anon
Can you not read?
>>
>>57141136
You know what I mean, you autistic fucking faggot
>>

>no ethernet jack
Where did it all go wrong?
>>
Looks comfy to use.

>touch id

I hate typing passwords
>>
>>57141216
I can type my password faster than I can move my hand from the keyboard to touch a sensor. Maybe it can save a few seconds of my day if it's located on the home row of the keyboard, but I doubt Apple is going to spend a lot of money to design some sort of expensive keycap that types the same way as all the other keycaps. Talking about keyboards, I hope Apple doesn't use their "butterfly" mechanism in the new keyboard.
>>
Figured this was the thread to ask

Is it worth getting the current macbook air?
>>
>>57141328
No MacBook is worth getting
>>
>>57141074
I at least want 1 (one) "FUCKING ONE" USB 3.1 Type-A port and headphone jack.
>>
>>57141328
I would only recommend it if you absolutely have to get an Apple laptop (developing macOS/iOS apps), because it's the cheapest one out there. But it lacks some performance, it hasn't been updated in a long time. You're basically getting the exact same MBA as mine from begin 2014, except for Intel HD graphics 6000 instead of 5000 (27% faster), and you get a 1.6GHz processor instead of a 1.4GHz one.
>>
>>57141381
I don't need to develop iOS apps, but I need a laptop I can bring to university. Should I wait until a new one is announced?
>>
>>57141407
not him, but I'd only buy apple products shortly after they are released

>4 times USB C
Meanwhile in the real world, lots of company projectors still use VGA.
But I suppose they're all wrong and Apple is right again.
Companies should just replace all their old shit with new shit for the sake of compliance right?
>>
>>57141423
Is there a reason for that aside from better value
>>
>>57141328
Wait till 27. Old MBA will be cheaper and we will probably see new MBA. I personally could recommend it as perfect programming laptop if the screen resolution was better.
>>
>>57141467
Actually USB-C will be new standard. No doubt about it. So pretty much yeah.
>>
>>57141467
>only usb-c
Time to buy a billion dongles
>>
>>57141328
Only for the weight + battery life.
If you like to write novels in the middle of nowhere for hours on end, it's the laptop for you.
For actual work you're better off with a Pro.
>>
>>57141530
Also if you are programming anything besides gnu extensive games it's laptop for you too.

when ethernet became unnecessary on laptops?
>>

>>
>>57141117
I switched from Macbook to Samsung Ultra years ago and I never regret it. Moreover, I came to conclusion that Apple laptop is like women's handbag and one looks with it like a gay.
>>
>>57141503
10 years from now at least. By then something new will be the new new standard...

See where im getting at?
>>
>>57141074
I can tell you right now that if the only ports on this thing are 4 usb-C's then the vast majority of the people I work with will be waiting to upgrade for at least a couple of years until after they've updated all of their peripherals and legacy hardware. Adding another dongle or usb hub in our environment is just another level of potentially show stopping cables to go wrong.

I work in live audio/visual btw.
>>
>>57141574
Because wifi? Hardly, much safer to use ethernet port than risk using wifi for businesses and gov
>>
>>57141185
In Apple's understanding, PRO isn't a techie so they can even cut root access to their laptops in the future. Apple is a fashion thing, it's not for work.

They are magstrip card readers for taking payments with a phone.

>4 usb-c 's ?
i highly doubt that abd heres why.
before with the 2014 and the 2015 versions they have gone thinner and thinner because thats the new fad lads, people want thin tech for some odd reason and will leave productivity for it.
Also if the Macbook pro suppose to have 4 usb-c then people will just complain that why wouldn't you guys cut the 3 usb-c ports and add a usb 3.0 port to there Macbook. Mind you im assuming that the 4 ports are all one sided (because in the past this has happened before).

>Oled panel
Hmm thats a little tricky, why would they need to go oled if they say that mini led is better for the screen as what they did with there phone line up but Apple flips flops a lot so.
>Mini jack
Isn't there marketing scheme that wireless is the future and theres no need for an audio jack???
>13-15 inch screen
actually this i can agree on , i kinda like the 13 because its suppee compack.
>touch id
no problem with that
>bigger touchpad
mmmm i have big hands so that maybe an issue.

Overall i think they should go back to where the 2012 to 2013 Macbooks , they were a nice weight and size , had a sufficent usb ports and i think an sd card? I'm not totally sure. but also a Cd drive that you can use its bay as a second drive.

also to add on , a real facebook machine only needs at least 8gbs of ram and a 8 year old processor, like a core 2 duo because Facebook uses a lot of ram are barely CPU power at all.

So here me out , there is no need to pay $1599.99 for a machine that you are going to use for facebook or for typing papers in work or school actually my highest price rand for that type of work is at maximum $400, you don't need to spend that high even if its just for getting a Mac, i spent $400 usd buying and upgrading my 2008 macbook to run at todays standards and i say it actually runs pretty good.

Also for the people who wants to know why i did , it was a test to see if one idea was correct that using old tech and upgrading it can work properly in todays standards.
Heres its specs tho
>Core 2 duo
>1TB 7200 rpm hard drive (adding an ssd soon)
>8Gbs of Ram
>Gtx 9400m (not too good for AAA gaming)

for a light user its actually not that bad. Mind you i use thsi for virtual machines, chrome browser, MS office.

>>57141343
nah, the rMBP from 2012-2014 is the best pc you can buy

every PC laptop has at least one glaring flaw. Screen, battery, build quality, wonky drivers, shitty touchpad. There's too many things to compromise on. Apple. just gives you a sold machine for less than $1500 unlike Lenovo
>>
>>57141467

>>
>>57141878
2012-2015
they were a step backwards in the sense of options (being able to change ram or battery, for instance), but remain powerful and capable of heavy tasks

if the 2016-17 rMBP are confirmed to be a more powerful MacBook, then it won't be worth getting one.

MUH THICKNESS. jesus.
>>
>>57141074
>are you interested in any way?
No. A Macbook Pro is supposed to be the all in one laptop for the future. Just having 4 USB C ports is stupid, the 2012 rMBP didn't ship with just 4 lightning ports.

It should have the newest intel architecture and the 10 series of nvidia gpu nvidia showed off this summer as optional dedicated gpu if they wan't to be taken seriously.

Most laptops only come with HDMI so the dongle is a must anyway.

This annoys me greatly
