Is there a language like Java that can be compiled/ran basically anywhere like Java can? (Standalone application like on Window, OSX and GNU/Linux)
That is legitimately the only reason I would use it, because the rest of it is full of shit pajeet
Every compiled language ever.
Javascript and Python are very portable and commonly used.

my man
Also, electron. Its a JS based framework for making desktop apps. Postman, Discord, curse, and some other common apps use it.
Python :^)

not an active java programmer but despite pajeet memes you will not find a more portable platform than the JVM without recompiling on the target device
>Pajeet
not an argument
In any case, .NET Core and Go are both highly performant write-once-run-anywhere options, although Go doesn't really have any usable UI libraries at the moment.

So doesn't .NET core, does it?

All of these compile to run on the JVM just like Java and thus should run exactly where Java can.

electron with typescript = good shit.
>>57139302
literally all of those are memes

yes, OP didn't say no memes though. And while they are memes they should also integrate perfectly with Java, in essence you could write code in C/Lisp/Pascal/etc, but produce .class files that your Pajeet friends can use with their Java code transparently.
Kotlin
for every popular modern interpreted language, there is a project that can package a runtime with your sourcecode for that "run-anywhere" behavior. For javascript, it's electron. For python, it's pyinstaller.
But for real, just build your app as a website.
