Going to install Ubuntu tonight, but before I do, one question.
What's the best DE, out of them all, that will run smooth on this machine?
>i5 750
>gtx 460
>8GB ddr3
eyyy glad to see im not the only one still running a 750
you have to be 18 to get a piercing right?
Specs doesn't mean shit when picking a de, it mostly if just personal preference
stick with windows instead, tard

Under 18 needs parents permission but I think a lot of places don't care
If your computer is better than 1.6 Hz Athlon / 1GB RAM then it doesn't matter. XFCE is best though 2bh f@m
>>57137951
Well I just retired mine in favor of an i3 6100+rx470, but I'm keeping it to mess around with Linux distros and maybe a htpc/steam machine.
>>57137975
Why is xfce best?
>>57137954
Depends on where this was shot. Not like you can't DiY either.
>>57137922
The machine's good enough for any DE/WM. Try them until you find the most useful one to you, no need to spare the machine a few CPU cycles of work.

XFCE is the NEETest. It also doesn't fuck with you, is very customizable, and never gets laggy. Linus uses XFCE too
>>57137922
>what's the best DE
Personal preference, try them all until you find the right one for yourself
>>57138018
Linus uses gnome 3 and I'm not a NEET.
>>57138021
So what's your personal preference and why?
>>57137922
When in doubt go with unity then go from there.
>>57138037
Linus uses XFCE and if you're not a NEET then get the fuck out normie
>>57137922
Ubutnu-mate is pretty goat. The welcome center is actually useful and the software boutique should be on every new user distro
>>57138063
Linux uses Gnome 3.x
>>57138100
nuh uh
>>57138037
I'm using Cinnamon because it's lightweight, simple and I cannot use KDE 5 Plasma.
Stay away from GNOME, fren.

MATE.
It's lightweight, looks good, and highly configurable.
