Why are these still so expensive?
>1tb
First of all
>buying a 1TB SSD
Second, $3/gb isn't even expensive despite SSD's shitty price scaling. Stop being a poorfag

>what is math
$.30/gb

Bought this today. Refurbished but pretty cheap.

Wait, what's wrong with 1TB SSD? 1TB is nothing for HDD.

They die after a month.

Pick one and only one of these.

1TB+ SSDs aren't as well developed using the 2.5" SATA format. They aren't nearly as reliable as <500GB SSDs. HDDs have the same issues once you start dealing with multi-platter 2TB+ drives.
1TB+ PCIe SSDs are pretty well developed since they have existed in the IT world for a while now.

>960gb for $130 not cheap
only an idiot spends more than $170 for a 850 or sandisk ultra 2
in reality you should be spending about $130
>>57137829
Can't you just download drivers?
>>57137829
Why would they be cheap?
I hope WD green is reliable and not as its name implies.
>>57137829
Why would you buy a 1TB SSD? The only possible cases I can think of are carrying a large lossless audio collection on an iPod or a laptop that has no 2.5" bay.
>>57140128
I only ever use SSD's in my builds these days. I'm past listening to HDD clatter and waiting a couple of seconds for the disk to spin up and possibly die.
The only possible cases where I would say a HDD is relevant is in a NAS which I can keep locked away elsewhere with a nice RAID setup.
>>57140225
Servers and NASs are the only proper places for HDDs now. If you've got an SSD with a bunch of HDDs or just HDDs in your desktop you're doing it wrong.

When are 1TB+ SSDs going to be sub $120 on the reg? Looking forward to upgrading all magnetics.

> One 256 GB SSD (Crucial MX200, $60)
> 2 x 6 TB HDDs (HGST, $160 each)
Covered for about three years or so. Still have several 2 TB & 1 TB HDDs in external enclosures for archival/redundant storage of rare & important shit.
> check SMART each month
> everything healthy & stable
Can't fathom a 1 TB SSD right now, although I recently saw a Crucial MX300 535 GB for $110 .... nearly did that. But, in a year 1 TB SSDs will probably be ~$80 or so. In 2 years 2 TB SSDs for under $100 on PCIe 4x slot. Or faster.
You should probably just stop whining like a faggot. SSD prices have plunged faster than any storage in history, by about a factor of 10x. At the same time reliability & performance have been improved at rates never seen. As in: NEVER seen. There is no calculation that can be performed that doesn't approach infinity.
And you're whining because you can't the bleedingist edge for free? Just heat up your mommy's credit card, fagchild. I'm sure your gaymemes will be plenty fast.

Most major NAND manufacturers are currently switching themselves entirely to 3D layered NAND and rapidly expanding production. You can anticipate by next year we will see this pricing as regular when supply finally overcomes the current influx of demand.
Back in the day you'd pay that price for a 120 GB SSD.
