Not really excited, but using it may be the way for me to go.

Windows has no concept of prioritizing user needs, and linux has shit collaboration software support. Whatever is supported, works half assedly. Firefox on linux is tremendously slower than its windows version. But when I need to boot that chtonic microsoft abomination from its slumber, it gets to update for half an hour before I can use my own computer.

So yeah, with all my hate towards apple, I am not excited. But I am waiting for it.

I wish both the 13" and 15" models would sqew more towards a focus on being a professional and business laptop, with stuff like a matte display, and user-up gradable ram/drive storage. They're too inbetween right now.

XPS 13 and 15 are better and you can already buy them.
20.5 hours battery life on the Kaby Lake XPS 13 is outstanding and industry leading by a mile. Lenovo needs 2 fucking batteries to match this while being much thicker. Apple doesn't even have a chance thanks to that bloated piece of shit macOS.

im curious to see the specs. im a music geek so logic pro kind of walls me into mac/apple. if they remove the headphone jack though there is no way i would buy it. the iphone 7- i understand no jack. but on a laptop i just cant go with that, especially a "pro" one made for "power users". usb-c is agreed to be the future so i dont mind those as much, but if they pull the "one usb c port" crap they did with the macbook i would not buy it. i also would not buy it if they make a price jump (like the most recent iphone jumped in price) for something with a bare minimum 4gb ram.

i had a macbook for about 8 years before it stopped working. it was my first laptop and i learned a lot on it, certainly ran it into the ground. currently using a thinkpad x301 with w7 + protools and enjoy it, but see myself going back to a mac/logic just in time for this pro refresh.

if the new models look like a pivot towards absolute cash-grab garbage (which everybody knows apple does to varying degrees) i'd consider getting an older model pro or even air and putting pirated logic on it(audio programs really arent super resource demanding so im not a cpu/ram snob) and hope it lasts me 8 years like my old mac did.

/blog post but theres so many of these gd threads lately i felt id at least post in one of them.
