I have a $2,000 setup for games which I don't use that often anymore. I find myself setting limits and building computers for low prices like $50 or $100 just for the hell of it using junk parts. There is a special charm that old hardware has that I don't get from new hardware... something about overclocking a shitty GT 620 or a GTS 450 to their limits, forcing them to play modern games despite their age..
Anyways, here's a picture of my most recent build. I spent about $53 dollars on it. I took an old Compaq case and found an Intel dual-core, 4GB DDR2, and power supply combo on eBay. Got the GT 620 for like $10, and had a decent little computer.
Will post benchmarks as well.
Crysis at 720p, ultra textures on GT 620.
CPU is an Intel E8400
COD4 with a mix of high and low settings.
Autist Craft at 1080p, normal render distance, smooth lighting, fancy graphics. Ran pretty nice considering this junker was $50.
Viscera Cleanup Detail, pretty much all low settings, but still impressive. Was actually playable, surprised me.
Old Diablo clone.. no surprise it played this but I fucking love this game.
Shitty Heaven score. For $50 though it did okay.
Have you guys built computers for this price before? It's pretty fun going on a scavenger hunt for parts. I'd be interested in seeing your results.
Obviously 2D games work well with pretty much any computer from the last 10 years, but still this one was fun to test.
I wish I hadn't spent so much money and time trying to cram as much power into a £900 PC, it is a bit soul killing

It's probably your rose tinted glasses. I understand you though, I get the same feels very often.
> There is a special charm
It's called autism

Same here but with bicycles instead

same here frend. I can upgrade to a real gaymen PC but my small Dell Inspiron is 2 adorable and suits my needs just fine. I just can't abandon her just yet.
I got the pc from a local work office that was closing for free. I replaced the stock psu, put an ssd, and a 650ti I bought ages ago.
Benchmarks:
>Rocket League
stable 130 fps in all maps. 90 fps in Aqua Dome
>csgo
stable 170 ~ 200 fps in dm valve server. higher in MM. I play in 4:3 stretched btw
First thing I did was a fresh Windows 7 install, and installed Speedfan to ramp up the cpu fan.

Fate was my shit. First game I got for my Pentium 4 3.0GHz + ATI x600 PC in 2005
OP you are the winner
Can you benchmark agar.io w/ one of these (they have FPS meters built in) http://sniikz.com/extensions.html, preferably HSLO v2. I wonder...
