Are the differences between mint and ubuntu only cosmetic?
If I buy a book for learning Ubuntu more in-depth, will it translate well to mint?
I wanna get cozy with ubuntu networks and ubuntu server because I love the amount of support but I much prefer the KDE environment in mint,

>book to learn Ubuntu
You mean a book to learn linux?

Well, Debian specifically. I do not know how much the diff branches deviate from eachother. FYI I'm not actually a techy but rather a music producer who uses linux a bit and wants to invest fully.

debian as a distribution is nothing special
if you want to learn something start learning linux
literally everything you as a music producer is how to install packages on debian

Ubuntu has diverged from Debian a lot over time, they only really share a package manager at this point. it's like SuSE linux and Fedora. at one point Ubuntu was basically Debian for retards with uglier logos, and people only got it because they mailed out free CDs of it back when 700MB was a lot to download. for some reason it stuck around.

oh, interesting. I had assumed Ubuntu was so popular was just because it was able to leap off the ground due to being backed by that millionaire.

Thank you.

Ubuntu is just a beginner Linux
You still live in 2012?
