anon i am going to help you since i was in your exact situation with my laptop earlier this week. i downgraded from 10 to 7 then i went to 8.1 because the touch support on 7 was awful

first you're going to stop the windows update agent service with an elevated cmd

net stop wuauserv

then you are going to install the following update:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2919355

yeah it takes a while to update, some people have to leave their computers on overnight for updates to show up
