Firefox has a much larger selection of browser addons. Some folks find that important. If you don't use addons then you don't care about that reason.

Using free software and non-botnet software are two situations that are often conflated by idiots on /g/. Using free software is not a matter of getting rid of the malware that may be hidden in proprietary software, but a matter of personal liberty - in particular, to be able to use the software for any purpose, and make modifications to it, as well as redistribute it.

Oftentimes, people try to disregard the free software movement as communism. This is nothing more than a shill/FUD tactic. Free software does have communist properties, yes, in that anyone can see contributions to it. But it also has capitalist properties: anybody can fork the free software and create a competitor, and anybody can sell support for the free software. Furthermore free software also has anarchist properties - in theory, anybody can edit it (as long as they make a contribution good enough to be approved by somebody who has the power to do so). To call a free software advocate a "commie" is misleading, to say the least.
