I can't say much for Pro tools, but Ableton is great for sampling.

I hate fl's automation it's fucking shit, and I hate needing to use one pattern because ghost notes don't exist in other patterns, I usually use extra patterns for non-pitched sounds.

Pro tools is hype since its closed ad platform and out of the box is lack luster. Logic is better but everbody is used to their own daws and daws dont mean much in the end. People even use digutal performer.

Reason is legit especially if your on windows and ableton is very customizable if you can script. Never use fruity loops though. Its trash especially when reason, logic and ableton do it better out of box

I've seen Logic Pro being used a lot in the music industry. If you don't have a Mac, try Pro Tools.

REAPER is bretty gud, been using it for years. Cheap, customizable, and easy to learn.

pc non macfag here, haven't used FL in 14 years and i don't have time to learn anything fancy. what's the best way for a guy like me to get drunk and make a track or three in as little time as possible? looking at trance, melodic progressive, and trap.

Is ReNoise as /g/ as it gets?
I can't even use it as a main DAW (I use Ableton + Renoise, or as I like to call it Ableton/Renoise) because it's so autistic but I have to say there's nothing like it for sample editing and musical micro management, it's raw

Ableton tips?


Freeze tracks like a mad man. You can always unfreeze. When you're done, flatten it to audio.

Highlight an area on the timeline, and command + Shift + M to make a new midi clip.

Groups are better than sends. When you group tracks you get a free send (the group)
