These are the current specs of my laptop. It runs windows and sucks at doing so. Is there a Linux distro that would probably work smoother with these specs? Must be able to run a torrent client and a media player.

Xubuntu LTS

>Linux work exactly like windows
bait? Linux uses less resources then windows itself
>>57116372
If you know your shit, try Arch. I just installed Arch on a system with similar specs and it runs a hell of a lot faster than it ever did on Windows 8.

>>Linux work exactly like windows
nobody said that
You could probably run most anything but something light like Xubuntu, Lubuntu or Ubuntu Mate might be your best bet.

Is Xubuntu technically still Ubuntu? I can use .deb files w/ it?
>>57116686
yes chum, just Ubuntu with XFCE desktop environment
Lubuntu is objectively the best answer, looks fine, great repositories and ideal support for Linux newcomers.
It also won Linux.com's best distro for old hardware two years in a row.

If you know your way around Linux, consider Arch
