How do I reduce the font size with the new osc?

My MPV started glitching out today. When set to use the dedicated GPU, it keeps glitching out every video it plays, by constantly switching between glitched and not glitched frames - https://i.gyazo.com/98af2adc3dc479f5a5e8f3289059f817.jpg and
https://i.gyazo.com/addde5eb4d9c3da3f6c0a12d9723ea07.jpg
I found out "hwdec=auto" is responsible for this.

But I don't know why this happened. Today in the morning it was working flawlessly, then in the evening when I went to university and got back, it was fucked.
The only thing I did in the meantime was installing java for a one time thing, which I already uninstalled when this glitch started occuring. Sadly that didn't fix it even with a restart.

So, could java be the cause of this or is it just a coincidence and the problem lies in something else?

Actually quite smooth upscaling to 2160p on my 390.

If you have a decent cpu I would turn off hardware decoding. Software decoding is usually better. Not sure why that happened though.

i installed a mac build linked from the official site and it ran my animez ootb. am i missing out on some kind of mystic wisdom that makes the anime more anime by not fucking around with a config file somewhere?
>>
>>57119334
No, the config file is the settings. Its really not hard to make a text file and write
profile=opengl-hq
hwdec=no
Then save it as mpv.conf
>>
>>57119648
is 'profile=opengl-hq' the same as 'vo=opengl-hq' ?
>>
>>57119334
Mostly depends on if you're upscaling, but yeah there are some settings you're probably missing.
>>
>>57119695
Yes, its what the older versions of mpv use.

Is nnedi3 prescaling really slower than with madvr or is it a myth?
>>
>>57120432
If I remember correctly, the nnedi3 implementation was (according to madshit himself) """stolen""" by the mpv devs. So I sincerely doubt it.
>>
>>57120432
I dont know, but either way its negligable. I've tried both
>>
>>57120461
But what about OpenCL interop (madVR) vs OpenGL (mpv)? Is mpv really slower? Why did haasn write "fast nnedi3" when he was working on a vulkan renderer.
>>
>>57120496
Is perfdata_total in mpv stats equal rendering in madVR OSD?
>>
>>57120516
Why don't you try both with proper configuration? If anything mpv seemed faster to me.
>>
>>57120516
>Why did haasn write "fast nnedi3" when he was working on a vulkan renderer.
Because nnedi3 is slow as fuck regardless if it is madshi, bjin or haasn who implements it. Vulkan makes it faster due to less overhead.
>>
>>57120578
I have a dumb shit GPU. :(
>>
Is there a reason why nnedi3 only works as prescaler and not simply as an upscaler (scale=...)?
>>
>>57120595
You aren't missing much. nnedi3 is the biggest placebo piece of shit ever taken. The difference is so minuscule you'd need a damn 10x10 still image to see the difference. It is not worth losing sleep over.
>>
>>57120664
>Is there a reason why nnedi3 only works as prescaler and not simply as an upscaler (scale=...)?
Nnedi is not a scaler, it was invented as deinterlacer. The way those algorithms work is by doubling the lines (= doubling the resolution) therefore that's all it can do.
>>
>>57120748
OK so there has an additional step to downscale/upscale if doubling resolution is not equal the window/monitor resolution.

When is prescaling triggered? Always or only when the video is 2x smaller than the monitor resolution?

Did anyone try to use normal scaler first and finally doubling to perfect monitor resolution?
>>
>>57120851
There are (or were) options to change this but if I recall correctly then doubling is triggered when video res is < desktop and the resulting picture (larger than desktop resolution) is then downscaled to desktop resolution.
There is always a scaler step after nnedi doubling to make it fit (except in the rare cases where it has desktop res after doubling)
>>
>>57121035
I suppose it was tested intensively.
If it was better in another way it will be by default.
>>
>>57121035
MadVR has a supersampling option for doubling/quadrupling/octupling and it seems to be popular for animefags!
>>
Fucking kids. Try to learn that MPD > MPV.

Oh it's a media player?
Better than VLC??
Installing it.
>>
>>57121414
mpv is a media player. Its equivalent would be MPC-HC or VLC.

mpd is a music playing daemon. Ncmpcpp is a client to play music from the music playing daemon. In layman's terms: It's a music player. Its siblings would be Foobar2000 or Winamp.
>>
>>57121486
Can mpc-hc or vlc play gifs, jpgs and png files like mpv?
>>
>>57121595
If a media player can't do this, it should be deleted from existence.

Damn why I can use SSimSuperRes on mpv without any problem but dropped frames as hell on MPDN?

Damn why I can use EwaSincJinc for upscaling on MPDN without any problem but ewa_lanczos dropped frames as hell on mpv? The only one ewa scaler that works is ewa_robidoux/sharp!
