How much less is a bachelor of arts considered vs a bachelor of science? One of the colleges I'm looking at only offers a BA in Computer Science and I'm wondering if I should even bother applying.

>how much less
It's not. Employers and academia care that you have a degree, not which degree. (within reason of course, you won't find work as a lawyer with a degree in accounting...)
Your subject choices and performance, along with how you present yourself are the thing.

I've heard that BA degrees are usually never considered and seen as a joke though

UC Berkeley's CS program is a BA. People do not care about BA vs BS, they care about the name.

BA usually means you focused on learning a foreign language over focusing on learning additional math. The difference is only four courses.
