Why should I use Duckduckgo /g/?

The bangs make it a pretty useful multi-purpose search engine. It's good as long as you don't actually use duckduckgo itself as your search engine. Also provides a layer of privacy, Google doesn't need to know I searched for big black asses.

Proxy would be a fitting description. A metasearch engine aggregates results from multiple sources. Ixquick was a metasearch engine, as is DDG. Startpage just displays the results it recieves from google. (Iirc this is because of licensing restrictions from Google)
