Sup /g/

I got an MHL to HDMI adapter for my phone the other day so I could use my phone as an emulator to play PSX games on my TV. I got it and it works great, the issue is after a few minutes of playing, the HDMI plug that's hooked into the TV gets super fucking hot. The adapter I got is a cheap one from China I assume (This is the only one I could find that supports my phone's model number)

Anyone have any experience with this stuff and know if it's normal for the plug to heat up so much?

Pic related. It's the cord I bought

I have the same one, OP.
are you connecting the USB end of the MHL adapter into the USB port on the back of the TV, or a separate power adapter? of you have, then you might need to use water cooling, or install gentoo.

Usually when a cable itself is getting hot it's because it's trying too pull too much (and failing) or is receiving too much power.

When you plug an HDMI cable into this socket for anything else does it get hot? ie is there something wrong with this socket

what did you expect, with a red cable like that. gotta get a blue one, they prioritize cooling.

Nah, sockets fine. Maybe it's just a cheap cable I guess. It's weird that I can't find anything about anyone else's unit overheating though. Just really want to know if it's safe to use like this.

There can be shit materials used for this cable and then it would have upped resistance which provides you power as a heat
>>
It's an active adaptor, it has a ASIC/fpga on it, that shit gets hot
