Should I go for 1070 or is there a better alternative in AMD?
$400 is the max price
Wait for HBM2
Everything else is flubber without it

I keep hearing this but with HBM pricing won't it mostly be 4gb HBM for around 300$ cards/

There currently is no AMD card capable of doing what the GTX 1070 does. Your best alternative would be the RX 480 8GB.
I thought about this a week ago when I was looking to buy a GPU for my new build.
Seems like AMD is competing against the 1060 with their higher end cards.
Maybe matching the 1070 in some games, but that's about it.
So I went with the 1070.
Seems like a pretty decent card.
Only problem seems to be the Mircron memory in the newer batches.
Apparently it doesn't OC nearly as well as the Samsung variant.

Fury X is water cooled for the same price and free-sync saves you $100+ on monitor upgrades
Otherwise both are pointless for a 1080 60hz display

fury is watercooled because it runs at fucking 90 degrees
also this benchmark picking is shit, amd works the same on like 5 dx12 games
would be good nvidia would do better dx11 than amd dx12, and considering that now there are, as I said, like 5 dx12 COMPATIBLE (not full) games, nvidia this year is the best choice. 8gb ram also, 4 are not enough. ME catalyst takes 5.1 gb vram, same for dying light and gtaV....
I'm not talking about new games dude

>fury is watercooled because it runs at fucking 90 degrees
My Fury Nitro runs in the low 70s with the fans barely spinning (~1400RPM). The Nano has a mini ITX-sized cooler and runs at ~75 degrees. Try again, shill.

R9 Fury has 90% of the performance at $70 cheaper. It is quite a bit more power hungry though as it is a last gen 28nm card. AMD's new high-end cards are coming out soon (Vega).

>1400 rpm
>barely spinning
my 980ti hybrid runs cooler on a fan that runs more slowly. AMDrones will unironically post horse shit without acknowledging nvidia currently wipes the floor with them when it comes to high end gpus. still waiting on vega, but we all know how it goes with AMD and waiting
