PROS: super cheap, dependable, has numeric pad for easy bet sizing when playing online poker

CONS: hdd. came with linux installed. will have to wipe everything and install Windows 10 on it to unleash it's full potential
>>
>>57091826
More than a couple dozen lines is virtually unreadable. Absolute mastery of vim is required to make it bearable. I've become used to it but it took quite a while even coming from a 12" thinkpad.

>Precision M4800
1.i7-4710, 16GB 1600mhz ram, 2x 512GB SSDs, Nvidia Quadro K2100M

2.Paid 1499USD after Small Business Discount

3.Cad and other modeling, Compiling code and firmware, Desktop Replacement, Video Games

4.Great power for the price, easily user serviceable, Stupendous battery life up to 10 hours if not using the GPU. Easily User serviceable and does not void 3 year on site service. It Docks to a real Docking Station.

5. Its Fucking heavy for a 15" laptop, nearly 10lbs. Not exactly Sexy or slim, its nearly 1.7" thick when closed. Has had to have the Display Hinges replaced twice, CPU fan replaced because it "cried/squealed"

>Latitude E6230
1. i5-3360m Dual w/HT, 8GB 1600mhz ram, Intel HD4000 GPU only, 500GB SSD.

2. 170USD

3. Checking Emails, internet surfing from the sofa, small and light notebook i can throw in a bag and not care about.

4. Small, Light, runs for 5 hours on the flush battery, 9 hours on the extended battery. Nice keyboard. Fast enough to even do some compiling. Uses the same docking station and power plugs as the Precision.

5.Soldered on CPU, High pitched Fan, the screen is pretty bad (1366x768, which is not the bad part, it has terrible colour very muted and washed out. Id not watch a movie on it)

Toshiba Chromebook 2 2015
>4GB ddr3-1600mhz
>Intel Celeron-3215U
>13.3" 1080p IPS
>16GB m.2 ssd (replaceable)
>HDMI out, USB 3.0, SD slot
>3 cell battery, close to 15 hours per charge at 50% screen brightness
>Skull Candy tuned DAC

Cost me $300 including the 128GB class 10 MircoSD card I got for it. Does everything I need it to do.

Pros:
Stellar battery life
4 second boots from being completely off
Amazing screen
Decent Keyboard
Just Werks
Program straight from the Google Chrome store to connect to Windows server shares
Active cooling, no passive trash

Cons
Celeron can get maxed out just maintaining 4-5 tabs of Chrome while playing a video at the same time
Small internal drive (although it can be replaced)

Good&Bad
ChromeOS in general is limited
File browser included is overall usable and the thumbnails layout is nice, but is missing standard things such as progress bar when moving files.

>>57092693
Something from Sager. $1300 is their sweet spot.

If you don't mind the branding, anything from Asus ROG. Their red/black color scheme may be edgy, but they usually have half way decent laptops spec wise with proper cooling. That and they're usually the cheapest option to get an 8 thread i7, 16GB ram, and nvidia based GPU. ($800-$1000)

same as what you'd expect out of a thinkpad. I didn't like the cap it came with so I switched it for the concave one, though. The screen is alright, no backlight bleed or uneven brightness on mine. A lot of people like to meme about the FHD screen's lack of color coverage but the fact that the shade of my 10bit chink cartoons are a little bit restricted isn't going to kill me.

And yet you go on about the Razer Blade. The brand that screams "1337 gaymer" to everyone around you. Not to mention they come with U series processors and are overall overpriced shit.

Take a look at Sager. Look and perform amazing.

>awesome keyboard, build quality, lightning fast to boot and open programs
>shit graphics processing, fine for what I do but it started choking when I enabled gaussian blurs on Compton, screen isn't as sharp as previous laptop

Overall very happy with my purchase.
>>
>>57092886
On that note, are there relatively light notebooks with CPUs worthy as desktop replacements that come WITHOUT dedicated graphics?

I quite like the idea of an eGPU. Can't imagine a real use for dragging 4kg and a GTX xx70/80 around. When I'm out all I care about is a decent CPU/storage/RAM and that the screen is bright enough. When home? Fuck it, might as well dock it into something.

>>57092934

>2. price you paid

>3. what you use it for
Everything I require a computer to do

>4. pros
Still has 7 months left on the Dell CompleteCare on site warranty which means I could, if I wanted to right after I make this post, take the laptop outside, throw it off my 3rd floor balcony, watch it hit the pavement below, watch it explode into smaller parts, then watch cars and other traffic roll over it utterly demolishing it completely, then call Dell (even now, at 10:15 PM on a Saturday night, tell them "Oops, I dropped my laptop and it's totally dead, broke part, dead screen, nothing works..." and by Tuesday at 5PM Pacific time I'd had a brand new one (might be a refurb but whatever, it would be new to me) delivered to my door. I can't beat that kind of service, nobody can, a no questions asked on site warranty with full replacement as an option if so desired.

>5. cons
It wasn't completely free of actual cash cost I suppose. Aside from that, I have no cons, no negatives, it's all positive since the moment I took possession of it.

Could anyone recommend me something? Was gonna buy a ps4, but decided to go for a laptop.

I need

> Good CPU
> Won't melt/explode
>Can handle some games perhaps from 2012? Understandable it won't run super graphics.
>durable/longevity
>Has numpad
> Good battery life

Optional
>screen size
>Screen quality
>Decent keyboard

Don't care
> Weight
>Aesthetics
>Optical drive

No rush to buy it. I can either wait for black Friday or a tax return. I don't even need a specific laptop just point me in the right direction. Thanks dudes
