Why are people so fucking irrational?

Also, it should be noted the phone does not "explode", it catches fire, yet everyone seems to think it literally explodes

Wait a minute, this isn't /v/. How did I get here?
>>
>>57080708
you are the one who is being irrational about the situation, The phone is essentially a ticking time bomb, it may not literally explode, but fire is bad...particularly with things that go in your pocket etc. Its a ticking "time bomb" in the sense that it may or may not malfunction and catch fire. The specific cause of this has yet to be found, and as such could(and possibly does) affect all Note 7 phones. The rational thing to do is return it and get something else.
>>
>>57080708

why don't you just get a replacement dumbass
>>
>>57080840
Actually they know exactly why and they even know the exact factory the malfunctioning phones were made in. And 35/2,500,00 incidents? Ill take my chances lol. If youre that paranoid then why even risk going outside?

Even Samsung themselves have admitted they botched this phone royally, why would you still hang on to it?
>>
>>57080872
even the replacements from different factories have had issues and they've cancelled production of the phone, and issued a recal for literally every device.
http://www.samsung.com/us/note7recall/

why not just return it for an LG v20 or Pixel
>>
>Keeping a phone that was discontinued
>will never get updates or root
>>
>>57080708
Can't you just replace the battery in it with something that doesn't explode?
>>
Why are you clinging onto a dangerous device whose manufacturer couldn't even figure out what the issue was before offering replacement devices? It's not even that special of a phone, it's just an average high-end Android device.
>>
>>57082155
No one else will care for it, so I will. It needs my love.

Can you open it up somehow and replace the battery? I know it's technically non-user replaceable, but wouldn't one be able to buy a replacement battery and swap them?

I'd do that and have fun scaring people to be honest.

no, its not a bomb, but the battery in it could self destruct and turn your phone in to an incendiary device, send it back before it self destructs and causes your house or car to catch fire

>>57082178
Yes.
Note 7 battery model is EB-BN930ABA, 70% of Note 7's were manufactured by Samsung SDI and 30% by Chinese ATL.
Note that China has not had issues with batteries, or not at the same level as western countries.
Also as far as I know it uses the same battery(at least size wise) as S7 edge, EB-BG935ABE.

>>
>>57083043
Wew
Why the fuck didn't samsung do this at their service centre instead?

Or hell, just recall all the ones that didn't have chink batteries instead of outright killing phone of the fucking year
>>
>>57083065
Well I can't be certain are say S7 batteries the same size, but if they are the swap should be simple.
Also apparently Samsung earlier said phones sold in China aren't influenced by this. They just reverted that and made a recall for china as well.

It might just be a matter of time before it happens to all Note 7s. Why not just give that phone back and get a different one? Perhaps an iPhone 7 :^)

>>57080752
The smoke of burning lithium batteries is a serious health hazard.
Also it gets really hot and can possibly ignite something.

>>57080872
Last I heard it was almost 100 of the old phones and at least 5 of the replacement phones. And all that in a really short timeframe.
>>
>>57083065
It's almost like Samsung is retarded and doesn't have a better understanding of what to do and why.
>>
>>57083145
Wow, a billion dollar company is retarded, and this random faggot isn't!

>>57083168

>>
I'm sure they know what the problem is, but won't tell because it would be scandalous

>>
SAMSHIT HOUSEFIRES
>>
>>57083235
But we do know what the problem is. It's the Li-ion battery and how it was made. Basically the tolerances are off and the positive and negative electrodes can come in contact, making the battery essentially short.

I'm kind of pissed there's no phablet with a stylus this year available for sale anymore.

I am on a Note 3 and I am one of the weirdos that uses the stylus all the fucking time.

Didn't need a Note 4, so I waited.
No sdcard on Note 5, so I waited.
Samsung itself decided I didn't need a Note 6, so I waited.

I'm tired of waiting.
>>
Why don't they just brick all the N7s remotely so people can't use them?
>>
>>57087164
On one hand, it's practically their obligation and I'd imagine they could very easily make an OTA package that'd just disable everything and display "exchange this for a replacement device" on boot and not fuction. If they can make mandatory upgrades, great. If they can't, then anyone dumb enough to upgrade a recalled device would deserve it.
On the other hand, they would probably get sued for, say, endangering people by not allowing them to call medical services and so on. Basically anything you can get sued for for jamming phone signals in a crowded area, probably.
>>
>>57087164
Because then I'm going to sue them for blocking me from being able to call 911 to come rescue me from these rising flood waters in North Carolina.
>>
>>57082498

I wonder what they will do with all them. Maybe bury them in the desert somewhere? If i could get one free/cheap id love to have one and just replace the battery with another one

You can't open the fucker to replace the battery on your own without voiding the warranty.

Which is why the Note 4 was the last good Samsung phone in the first place.
>>
here's why you should get rid of it:

>>57082155
That's just not true, the Note 7 is the best looking device out there with the most overall functionality, barring explosions. it's sad that it turned into a booming piece of crap but whatever, hopefully samsung doesn't kill off the note line and the 8 will be what we all wanted, seeing as they re introduced SD cards after taking them out in the 5
>>
>>57087251
>>57087253
Why not just brick every N7 remotely so that only emergency calls are possible and a text appears on screen that tells the users to go replace the phone?
>>
>>57087962
Sounds like the best option to me.

>>
>>57083343

No. they THOUGHT that was the problem until the replacements started to self immolate. It may be something outside the battery. Despite what anons in this thread think, Samsung doesn't currently know what the issue is. So they recalled all of them and will likely kill the "Note" brand entirely.
>>
The Note 7 is so bad that it's currently identified as "forbidden hazardous material".
>>
>>57090844
So is you're mom :^)
>>
>>57080708
Imagine being this fucking delusional for a brand of phone.
>>
>>57092385
Personally, it's not the brand.
I couldn't care less about Samsung because honestly this is my first one ever.
I've always dabbled between Sony, Motorola and even Apple and this is hands down the best smartphone experience there is.
I even had my doubts before buying it because the UI seemed like garbage (I had played with Samsung phones from friends, family etc) but I thought... Oh well, I can always download a launcher and be done with it, only to find an exquisite refined experience with this new layer they use (it's called Clarissa or something, can't remember) so it became my favorite instantly.
The level of customization via themes is far superior to the three brands I mentioned earlier (specially Apple, lol, what a joke) so I'm standing by an excellent performer as well as aesthetically pleasing phone.

It could be any other brand and I'd love it the same.
