Macbooks at least use BT for a bunch of cool things. Basically all continuity features are done through BT - unlock your Macbook through apple watch, ability to make answer/make calls and receive texts through your iPhone, AirDrop file transfer, universal copy & paste, ability to use your iPhone as a LTE hotspot, ability to continue viewing whatever webpage/e-mail you were viewing or working on when you switch between your iPhone and macbook or vice versa, etc. All of this is done seamlessly, without any special user configuration aside from signing into iCloud and enabling continuity in each device.
