Getting an older monitor for free, which one is better. One is

I realize this isn't exactly the point of the thread but might as well ask here and maybe get some insight on the matter since I don't think this deserves a thread of it's own.

I'm probably going to buy my first console to play a couple exclusives but the thing is: I never had a television. I just never got around to buy one since I use the pc for everything. Do I need to spend a lot if I want a tv literally just to play console games? I don't really want to spend a lot of money since I will use it to play some videogames and that's it. Any suggestions or advice?

Other than "don't buy a console". I just want to play videogames and some don't come out on the pc. They will be pretty cheap on black friday/cyber monday anyway.

You can connect the console to the monitor but there's a lot of good and cheap 32' around $150

Samsung monitors of that age tend to develop lines in the screen or just die completely from bad capacitors.

I would see if you can leave both of them plugged in and turned on for a few hours to see if they develop faults.
