/g/ - long time /tv/ poster reporting in. After spending the past few years focused on paying off my house, I'm finally in a position to upgrade my A/V equipment. First will be a new receiver. Can /g/ recommend a good 7.1 receiver in the $500-$600 range. Pic is the same model as my nearly 20 year old Denon. Thanks!
If this isn't the most appropriate forum for my post, which one should I try next?
Anyone?
what's wrong with your receiver?

It's 20 years old, doesn't have HDMI or proper (5.1/7.1) surround sound. It's fine for music, but I'd like something better for films.

what speakers do you have?
Check eBay. I just bought a pioneer elite vsx 44 for $130.
No remote and no volume button. $20 remote ordered and I got a 2 year old receiver that retailed for $500. Yeah no volume knob, but I might fix that later.

Paradigm Monitor 9. Also almost 20 years old, but holding up well.

Thanks Anon. :)
Bump?
Go used, unless you care about Atmos. Spend near the top of your budget if you do.
The low- and mid-range products they make now are shit. You can usually tell it's going to be garbage if the back has a bunch of sheet metal with no inputs.
