The reason why there are so many versions is because microsoft kept bypassing it with new iterations of updates causing an arms race of competing patches.

Now that development of Aegis is ceased, running windows update on your win7 PC will cause it to be integrated into the microsoft botnet framework.

If you are too pleb to embrace the penguin then you must go back to Vista which is as good as 7 and does not get the win10 worm from updates.

Updates are being delivered in a similar manner as to Windows 10, since this month. Most of us running 7 disabled Windows Update now. However it still let's you choose if you want to download and install it or not at all, so disabling WU entirely isn't necessary.

You should get into emulation.
You can download entire ROMsets of old systems for only a few gigabytes.
WINE actually actually runs year 2002 and earlier windows games better than Win7+ compatibility options.
Linux by it superior kernel has less frames of input/display lag than windoes.

Out of curiosity, what was the latest date of updates that were not botnet? I stopped updating at the start of summer and by the time the update server fuckery engaged, I decided not to update at all ever again because who knows if they'd slip in a killswitch along with a "security" update.

So I'm very curious when the last time people updated here was. For me it was late May.

Updates previous to the October Rollup are and will still be delivered individually just as before, best you can do however is download an updated ISO from those Gen2 guys, install it, disable Windows Update and be done with it.

Do what I do senpai, switch to Linux, but keep a windows partition around that is basically just for games.
Hell, almost half my Steam library runs on Linux anyways. My emulators run better!
