Tell me why I should or should not learn C++

Because there's nothing you can build at this point that doesn't already exist.

That's the feeling I get :(
I love software and systems, but there is a lack of practical problems which need solving in our current paradigm. I hope someone invents some whole new platform so that we can all be creative and break new ground once again.

Because it's not python or java

Do you mean this as a good or bad thing. I have triuble identifying trolls on this board

That depends entirely on what do you want to learn a programming language for.
If you are doing it for the fun, you should pick something like python or a scheme variant.
There isn't really a reason to learn cpples (besides getting a job that is) unless you have something low-level or high performance in mind.
I'm learning it right now since it (supposedly) looks good on resumes. But, if you're not job hunting right now I'd learn Python instead. Love the shit out of Python.
