Why did you fags never tell me about Lua?
It's based.
Programming in Lua 4th Edition comes in the mail today. It's gonna be sweet.
Tell me what you know about Lua. I am going to be using it to make Minetest mods on Windows, Linux, and OS X.

Educate yourself nigga. What next, are you going to learn about the existence of Prolog?
I use it a lot in combination with C, considering the interface is smooth as butter. Allows me to use both dank Lua high-level concepts and delicate low-level efficiency. I feel like I could do anything with just C and Lua.

>One-based indexing
>No switch statements
>Numbers can only be represented as doubles
Lua is fucking trash.

Demolished.
I think Lua's usefulness died with Python, desu.
I enjoyed using lua but it's not worth learning unless you have an application in mind.

Lua is widely used because the interpreter is simple to implement and can be embedded inside other programs. Often used for the interface in otherwise C/C++ games, for example. Also remember reading about a distributed database that supported running arbitrary code with lua (with some exceptions). I wouldn't use it as a general purpose language though, too basic.
Lua was my first language. Wrote gmod plugins with it. Pretty useful for game scripting and not much else.

The only reason to learn Lua is because of Torch. Other than that, just don't bother
