What's the deal with people leaving SuperSu for other super user managers? heard something about Chainfire being a shill for some gubmint or something
>>
>>57054447

SuperSU is proprietary, and there is no way to tell if it has backdoors in it or not. Moreover, it isn't even used as the default superuser application in Cyanogenmod and ROMs based on Cyanogenmod.

Just use PHH. It's free as in freedom and gets regular updates.
>>
>>57054550
Didn't he also sell it to some company as well? Right now I'm using CM Superuser with magisk and works pretty ok - though PHH being free as in freedom tickles my fancy. Thanks, sempai.

How do I root LG K8 (k350n)?
I even tried that one click apps and still no success. Also don't wanna get the bootloop.
Anyone has this model?
>>
>>57054550
Nevermind i'm retarded I AM using phh apparently.
>>
>>57054349
I have CM13 and TWRP recovery on my Galaxy S5. Works really well normally but maybe once a week I need to reboot it because either slows down horrendously and wierd things happen like Rocket Player exiting for no reason.

I have a few Xposed modules but they are fairly useless:
>RootCloak
Doesn't work for any app I've tried it with yet
>Marshmallow SD fix
Again, doesn't work with the only app I want it for (ACR).
>YouTube AdAway
I don't think I've used YouTube since I installed this so I'm not sure if it works.

AOSP 7.0 with root
Twrp 3

Moto x play
128gb sd
>>
>>57054688
android 7.0 here also
Also rooted
How do we get LED notification on AOSP without xposed?
>>
>>57054732
Dont know. I'm waiting for a kernel which enables leds
>>
>>57054606

Yep. Earlier versions of CM used Koush's superuser application, but he stopped updating I think. PHH's superuser is a fork of Koush's that is more up to date, so I wouldn't be surprised if that's what's being used.

Do you know of any decent web servers for android?
I have an old phone, and would like to re-purpose it as webserver to serve as chat room for the dorm with this
https://code.tutsplus.com/tutorials/how-to-create-a-simple-web-based-chat-application--net-5931
And HTTPFTP server for transferring small with either this
https://gist.github.com/scturtle/1035886
Or this

The only android web server I know of that properly handles standard port 80 on my rooted device running cm13 is Bit Web Server Pro on Google Play. It also has a good working implementation of PHP and MySQL, with PHPMyAdmin.

If you don't mind using a nonstandard port above 1024, there's open source ServDroid on fdroid, but it doesn't have the other stuff. So your users would have to add the port number after the address, E.G. http://mysite.com:8080.

The others I've tried that claim to work on port 80 on rooted devices just don't work, at least not on cm13, and none of the port forwarders I've tried have worked.

An ftp server that works on standard port 21 is FTPDroid, also on Play Store. And SSHDroid will work on standard port 22.

If you want to run them as Tor hidden services, you can install Orbot, enable the option, and indicate the ports to use. Then stop and restart Orbot, go back into settings, and write down your onion addresses.

Is there a way to root the s7 edge yet. I thought I heard that you couldn't before but I'm not sure.

Unlocked phone means no netlocked phone not easy BL unlock
Nexus was easy to unlock also motorola or oneplus
>>
>>57057802
Carriers generally enforce bootloaders. If the phone is unlocked then it is easy to unlock the bootloader as well, as you just pointed out.
>>
Verizon Galaxy s5:

Twrp 2.something
Cm13 nightly
Gapps micro or some shit
What's xposed?

It was a MASSIVE pain in the ass to even unlock the bootloader and its impossible to do if your internal storage is made by the wrong company or whatever.

I use mine on t-mobile, and have to manually enter apns to get it to work, and then it seems to drop all data when it switches towers, so I have to put it in airplane and back out.

You use the PHH Superuser app from Gplay/F-Droid. Or you can use Magisk with PHH:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445

I'm already using PHH Superuser, but it doesn't seem to work properly. I had to manually disable su permissions using xprivacy for now.
