So, /g/, what updates have you done to your laptops and what is your longest lasting laptop?
I got a nearly 6 year old dell xps 14 (l401x) and I just found out there's a second mini pci express port I could use, but I'm not sure if I should got for usb 3.0 ports or an external graphics card.
I have also replaced its battery twice since dell laptops aren't very durable
T420
2011 manufacture
Upgrades:
8gb ram
275gb Crucial MX300 SSD
Intel Ultimate N wifi card
quad core i7
9 cell China battery (pretty shitty desu)
Ive thought about getting the nvidia mobo for it, but I'll probably just buy a newer thinkpad

My first battery replacement was a chinese battery too and it sucked even more than the original dell battery

2013 rMBP
512GB SSD

I'm considering just buying better 18650 batteries and rebuilding it myself.

I wish I wasn't so stingy with money. I have a 256gb SSD which I got for 80 dollars in 2012. I might replace my optical drive with another SSD instead

I wish the new dell laptops used tons of AAAA Batteries like my first dell inspiron from 2002
I remember replacing them all and making my laptop last 6 hours which was impressive in 2005
got an acer v5 573g, replaced the slowass 1tb hdd with a cheap 128ssd, the cheapass realtek wireless card for an intel 7260ac, and added 4 gb ram so now I have 12 gb.
it's my uni laptop so I don't need that much space, plus the ssd means that I can get up to 11 hrs battery, somehow

How do you survive with 128gb of space?
