It looks cool as fuck and I'm sure it curb stomps 99% of even gaming desktops. That being said I can't really see what the point is. It's so heavy between it, the power bricks, and the accessories you'd have for it that lugging around ~22lbs you might as well be toting around a mini tower. And as good as the specs are a $5k desktop would still handily beat that just from improved thermals.

Yeah, whatever. My point was that such high end parts create a lot of heat and don't work to their full potential in a laptop sized case. A gaming laptop with mid-tier gpu like rx 470 or gtx 1060 and best possible cooling would be pretty alright though but the current trend seems to be fitting as much high end parts in the most confined space possible, which is fucking dumb.

Craigslist, normally if say stolen but it was a middle aged guy in business casual on his lunch break that met me, the left hinge was broken but otherwise the machine looked brand new. That "laptop" in your pic barely counts as one. I'm not one to bitch about size/weight but 21.5" screen for a device that supposed to be mobile? An astounding 1 hour battery life with both GPUs turned off and the laptop on power saver? Worthless. Unless you're dirty rich and want to dump $5k on a mobile 4K capable gaming machine, go right ahead. Otherwise take a look at Sager offerings. Or even the Asus ROG stuff.

yeah not a bad deal. I think mid/entry range (sub 1500$) gaming laptops make a lot of sense for someone who will use it mostly at home but knows they will need to bring it out. If you're not thinking of it as a laptop, but rather a "complete package" desktop replacement kinda thing that's a bit more convenient to pack up and move around (in your car) than a full desktop, sure I don't see why not.

I find that gaming laptops are really ideal for people in the armed forces wo want to play vidya, since they expect to move around a lot. When I was into gaming my college freshman year, I built a desktop PC in my dorm. It's really not a big deal, considering there are people who have a ton of shit (fridges, microwaves, extra drawers, etc.). Whenever I would go home, I would take my GPU with me (I built a PC for my mom and made sure it could play games at decent quality/frames with my GPU).
