Nah, not exactly anon..

C is not really hard, it's much easier to learn than Java, C++ or C#. But you have to do more things "by yourself ", i.e. manage your own memory, write your own structs and so on. That's why people don't use for large scale applications, unless you really need each tiny bit of optimization you can get (operating systems, real time systems). But even then many prefer C++.

Python could get called a "hacker language", because a lot of PenTesters use it. If you look for books about PenTesting /Security with python, you'll find a lot of books.

But the language itself is not more "suited" for hacking than i.e. Ruby (i.e. Metasploit-Framework) or Perl - it's more like 20 years ago you would hack into a server with a couple of Perl scripts, an nowadays you do it with a couple of Python scripts. But it's more a matter of personal choice.

Because as we're developing applications, we want to press F5 to start debugging, then close the window to stop.

Even if you opened the command line, navigated to the project output folder, and ran the executable, it wouldn't give you enough time to attach the debugger before the execution ends, and even if you did have enough time, you would miss a lot of the code that you may have wanted to debug, so you end up having to pause the program anyway.

If you master gdb, then your workflow will definitely be superior to the VS debugger.

The windows binary was a little buggy last time I used it (about a year ago, might be fixed.)
It's generally matlab syntax with a few exceptions (google 'octave matlab differences'), the parser isn't very fast but for prototyping it will do the job.

Not like any of these syntaxes are hard to grasp though, so if you're familiar with scilab you should probably stick with it
