I did notice that even if no ads displayed, allowing the ad servers to connect REALLY fucked up my loading time, and froze up the pages. So I blocked that shit.

Hiro said that the ads were actually bringing in less revenue than the ad servers cost. I'm not sure if they've been completely turned off but they've been drastically reduced as a result.
