Yes.
>>
Not anymore.

Gotta provide some context
>>
>>57032878

Not him, but right now im helping a friend with a RMA of a 480 nitro... I had Sapphire in the past, but lately is poop.
>>
My Sapphire HD6950 is still going strong, but I've heard that recently they aren't that good.
>>
>>57032769
My 7870 have now defective ram after 3 years 2 months and 7 days of use. It's not too bad right now i have flashing artifacts in games, but it will not leaver a good taste in my mouth. The last card I used was obscenely clocked pallit 9800GTX that lived 4.5 years, sapphire card was never clocked and if we talk about hours spend in gaming/desktop use I used pallit much more. I will not get another amd and will certainly not get another sappshire. Same problem with asus - big name flimsy products. If you get amd get XFX. I will personally get msi 1060 for xmas.
>>
>>57032769
They're okay if you just want the basic shit. Take it easy on the overclocking and expect a little more fan noise.
>>
>>57032769
no brand deserve loyalty.

get what you need. preferably used.
>>
>>57032769
The 480 Nitro isn't that great, sadly. Built down to a price. The MSI Gaming X is the way to go if you want a 480.
>>
My r9 290 vapor-x is still going strong. Runs cool and never had any issues. I hate Asus rma with a passion so I will never purchase any Asus hardware. Msi products are pretty good but no experience with their rma, same with gigabyte.
>>
>>57033581
You're confusing Sapphire with stock coolers? Some Sapphire cards are very quiet. I think the Fury air one was quieter than the liquid X model.
>>
>>57033483
>one card represents a statistical population of bad branding
get out nvidiot
>>
>>57033543
my hd 5770 was used for 5yrs+ and its still being used by someone else
was a sapphire vapor-x
>>
Sapphire 6950 here, bought it on launch day, unlocked shaders to 6970, and running it with 10% overclock - of which 1 was spent fully as a bitcoin miner, that got the cards price back (very handy, since I lost my job a few weeks after buying it).

The card is still running flawless, after almost 6 years now.

though for what it is worth, I did replace the cooling so it runs quitter (it was the reference model with the power connectors having their corners shaved off).

Thinking of replacing it with a 470 or a 480, but prices are ridiculous and I honestly don't NEED a new card.

>>57033543
And how do you know if it has defective ram, other than shit games looking like shit? Have you used some memory-specific testing tool to verify that?
>>
>>57034552
I got an MSI 4GB 470 off of jet.com for like $165, free shipping.
>>
>>57033483
This. Sapphire in the past was top tier but know you have the "mmm" option
>>
How good is RX 480 NITRO+ 4GB?
>>
>>57037188
>4GB
Might aswell get the 8GB RX470 Nitro
>>
Why? 4gb is more than enough for 1080p gaming. Rx 480 isn't powerful enough for 4k gaming anyway.
>>
>>57036683
I don't think things changed THAT much in one year, my 390 nitro works great.
>>
>>57037188
Look for the 8GB model, you can often find it for only around $20 more than the 4GB.

>>57039472
Texture buffer senpai. It's a measure of future-proofing, since games can load more textures to the vram which is faster than pooled ram.
>>
Just get the 1080
>>
what about Zotac?
>>
>>57039472
if you want your graphics card to last you then you shouldnt aim for "currently more than enough" as 4gb is actually more like the "standard" right now
games are hogging up more and more vram and youll regret having only 4gb in the coming years
>>
>>57039560
But people can still run games just fine in 1080 with 2gb cards that were mid-tier ages ago.
>>
My 7970GE is still going strong after 4 years. After Crimson Drivers it now runs quiet all the time.

And this is after knocking a few caps off the top PCB. Long story.
>>
>>57032769

Yes, but AMD certainly isn't.
>>
>>57032769
Saphire/XFX for AMD, EVGA and I can't remember who for Nvidia.
Basically, don't touch the companies which play on both sides. They often reuse cooler designs if they think they can get away with it, which might be alright if you've got the card it was designed for, but its not if you're getting any other card.
Besides that, Gigabyte, MSi and Asus are overpriced anyway.
>>
>>57039941

Got my sapphire 460 4gig today. Out performing my old 5770. 3 more years for my 2009 pc.
>>
>>57032769
>AMD

No, Nvidia is the only acceptable purchase.
>>
>>57039684
>low settings, 1080/720
>fine

pick one. and i used a gt 430 from 2010 to 2015. get something good/great now so in 4 years it'll be fine/good. don't "settle" because mid-tier cards from yesteryear "can" run games.

Brand loyalty is fucking stupid. Stop that.
>>
From what I've read XFC and MSI have put out the best Rx 480 cards
>>
>>57039560

Tatan x has 24gig ram if you feeling uneasy about the future friend.
>>
>>57032769
The latest xfx rx 480 is fucking great
>>
don't really want to make a new thread, is it worth upgrading to the 480 from the saphire 280x or should I wait for the 490 and decide between that or a 1060?

>complain about being overpriced
>recommend EVGA

Top kek. My Gigabyte ITX OC 1060 is better than the faulty EVGA SC it replaced AND cost me quite a bit less.

>>57040605
>based entirely on the golden sample they sent Jay

Careful. They won't all be doing 1475MHz at 65 degrees, or anything close to it.
>>
>>57040616
It's around a 40-50% performance bump. You decide.
>>

>>
>>57040617
Yeah, that golden sample has caused a ruckus.

I'm not sure how long 4gb on a 470 will last me.
>>
>>57040171

Getting the following fps:

>Dota 2 getting 90fps vs 48fps
>XCOM 2 upped the settings and running smoothly at high settings with some shades tuned down.
>DCS World has become playable with smooth running at medium settings. Could barely run it at 1080p on 5770. Also uses more than 2gig Vram so glad I got 4gig model.

Overall great increase in performance running:

Core 2 quad at 2.6ghz
4 gig ddr2 ram
Wd Raptor drive
Gpu Sapphire rx 460 Nitro 4gig
>>
>>57040755
So how would you attest to 4gb of vram?
>>
Really happy with my rx 480 nitro+ 4gb.

Massive speed increase over my old 270x.
>>
>>57041364
Blergh, see another person ignoring. Do you have concerns over 4gb v ram?

I wouldn't plan on changing this card for at least 3 years.
>>
My sapphire 7850 2gb twin cooler variant or whatever was running a 30% o.c for years and mined ltc/dogecoin with it. I've reduced the o.c now though but still game with it. Had it since launch.

Buying a new gpu come Xmas just haven't settled on either a 1060 6gb or 480 8gb.
>>
>>57034552
Yes, besides I this is not the first time I have seen that, I can tell some pc problems from single glance. Dual X are shit products.
>>
>>57040971

Well coming from a 1 Gb DDR5 VRAM card to the 4Gb helps allot!

Two games I play used 2.5gb of Vram with 100GPU load. DCS World and No Mans Sky with Framerate Unlocked both at 1080p.
>>
>>57032769
Sapphire radeon best radeon
>>
>>57033796
What about XFX GTR?
>>
>>57043673
Yeah, just thinking of how much I actually want to invest, it's little or a lot. 470 or 1070 one literally half performance and half price of the other.
>>
>>57045852
I forgot to add if I get a 1070 I may as well get a 144hz monitor.
